Masaba Gupta Says She Spent The Best Childhood While Travelling The World With Dad Vivian Richards

Masaba Gupta is the daughter of the veteran actress, Neena Gupta and West Indian cricketer, Vivian Richards. In the 1980s, when Neena and Vivian had fallen in love, the latter was already married. Still, when Neena had discovered that she was pregnant, the actress had taken the courageous decision to give birth to her child and raised her as a single mother. Now, Masaba is one of the leading fashion designers in the country and has her own label by the name, House Of Masaba. She was also seen as a judge on the fashion talent show, Supermodel of the Year.

Masaba Gupta shares a warm bond with both her mother, Neena Gupta and her father, Vivian Richards, and her social media handles are proof of the same. On March 12, 2021, Masaba Gupta had taken to her IG handle and had dropped some throwback pictures from her memory lane. In the first picture, Masaba could be seen in her mother, Neena Gupta's lap while her dad, Vivian Richards, was sitting beside her. In the picture, while on one side, Neena had looked stunning in a white saree with a red border, red bindi and loose hair. On the other side, Vivian was seen dressed in a T-shirt and shorts. Another photo was a monochrome that had featured her grandparents. Masaba had captioned the pictures as:

"My world. My blood."

In an interview with Curly Tales, Masaba Gupta opened up about her childhood experiences. She revealed the reason behind her love for the city, Mumbai. The actress also mentioned that she couldn't stay away from the city for more than a couple of days. Masaba said:

"I spent my childhood travelling the world which I think is possibly the best-case scenario for a kid. But I was born and brought up in Bombay and I'm a hardcore Mumbai girl. In fact, I can't be in another city unless it's for work or whatever for more than a couple of days. I've always been a Juhu girl, that's the neighbourhood."

Further, in the conversation, Masaba mentioned her father, Vivian Richards and how she spent her childhood days travelling with him. She talked about her father's work and named herself 'Travelling Baby'. She mentioned:

"Whenever I had the time or a break from school or something like that we were always on a flight somewhere. My dad at that time was very actively doing commentary and we would just travel with him. We'd go to England and we'd go to Africa and we'd go all over the place. So yeah I always say I'm a travelling baby but my heart is in Mumbai."

On December 23, 2021, Masaba Gupta had taken to her Instagram stories and had shared an old picture of her father, Vivian Richards, from his playing days. Along with the picture, Masaba had penned a sweet note atop it in which she had talked about her life's greatest regret, and it had involved her cricketer dad and the famous 1983 World Cup. In her note, Masaba had revealed that she was born six years after the 1983 World Cup, which is why she couldn't witness the iconic moment with her country on one side and her father on the other side. Masaba had also shown her excitement to watch her mother, Neena Gupta, in the film, '83, based on the 1983 World Cup. Her note could be read as:

"My greatest regret in life is not ever watching my dad play in a stadium--I was way too young. I always say I was born 6 years too late. I didn't get to watch this iconic match with my dad on one side and my country on the other. #83TheFilm trailer is giving me goosebumps, and I cannot wait to return to the theatre to watch it. So amazing that my mum is a part of it too. It's like coming full circle @neenagupta all the best @kabirkhankk @deepikapadukone @ranveersingh and everyone else who put their heart into it."

In 2018, when Vivian Richards had turned 66, Masaba Gupta had jetted off to meet him with her mother, Neena Gupta. Sharing an adorable picture from her visit and wishing her daddy on his 66th birthday, Masaba had written an emotional note along with a priceless family picture. Her note could be read as:

"It's been a bit astonishing, how short life can be .. which is why I dropped every single 'important' thing I was doing to come surprise my dad on his birthday today and even had an impromptu family reunion. Missing the husband, though. Happy birthday, dad - I'm really trying to make this emotional, but you're 66 now and still can't send a WhatsApp and think a smartphone is the devil incarnate."
