Malaika Arora was just 25 years old when she got married to Arbaaz Khan. She proudly flaunted her name, 'Malaika Arora Khan', until she dropped it in 2017 after getting legally separated from Arbaaz Khan. The once-madly-in-love couple developed compatibility issues. While many media reports that Malaika was out of love, the ex-couple kept repeating that they tried their level best and chose happiness over sticking with each other. However, not many know the details of Arbaaz and Malaika's proposal.
Recently, we stumbled upon an old tabloid interview of Malaika Arora, wherein she talked about how Arbaaz Khan proposed to her. She revealed that she first met Arbaaz during the shoot for a coffee brand. They developed an instant liking for each other. While they had lots of fun while shooting for the ad, Arbaaz and Malaika were not able to meet in person. They developed a mutual liking while talking on the phone.

Further in the same interview, Malaika revealed Arbaaz's surprise proposal. Malaika shared that she had a show on her birthday, and after she wrapped it up, she went to Arbaaz's house, wherein she saw him lying in his bed and covered with a blanket. To her surprise, he was running with high fever, when he surprised her with a huge diamond ring. The actress was quoted as saying:
"He was running with a high fever and was lying on a bed covered with a blanket. When he reached out his hand to wish me, his hand was shaking and burning with fever. To my utter surprise, he took out a box and gave me the most gorgeous diamond ring. I was touched and I cherish it till date."
Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora tied the knot in 1998. After four years of marital bliss, they got blessed with a son, whom they have named Arhaan Khan. However, they parted ways in the year 2017. But they made sure to remain cordial with each other. According to media reports, it was stated that Malaika Arora fell in love with Arjun Kapoor. However, they kept their relationship away from the media glares till 2019.
Years later, in an interview with Sidharth Kannan, Arbaaz was asked if he shares a better relationship with his ex-wife, Malaika Arora, after their divorce. Arbaaz agreed to it and said that they have a child together, whom they are co-parenting and they need to be in a better state of mind for him. Arbaaz added that they have matured with time, and are in a better place to accept each other.
Arbaaz and Malaika's life story proves that over the years, love can fade away, but it is the respect that should stay, even after you are not together anymore. The ex-couple never once badmouthed each other or watched their dirty linens in the media.
