Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were the most buzzed-about couples back in the days, and they shed major goals for their fans out there. Their sizzling reel-to-real chemistry was loved by everyone and their joint performances are a memorable treasure even today. However, due to reasons best known to them, Salman and Katrina parted ways, but continued to maintain a cordial equation with one another. Fast forward to now, while Salman is still reigning his bachelor status, Katrina, on the other hand, is happily married to Vicky Kaushal.
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s best preserved film even today is Ek Tha Tiger, wherein the duo weaved magic with their reel love story on the celluloid. However, do you know that by the time they were shooting the very film, their real-life love story had ended? Well, speaking with Mashable India, filmmaker, Kabir Khan revealed how it was quite uncomfortable for him to sign both Katrina and Salman for the film, especially at the time when the duo broke up only a short while back. Talking about those moments, he narrated:
“This was the day Salman finally said yes that we were doing the film. Katrina had already signed the film. She was Zoya. Katrina is just like a family to me. She is extremely close to Mini (Mathur), the kids and me. Vicky is also now an integral part of our family. And then we went to Salman. This was the stage when they had broken up, so it wasn’t like comfortable. I told him I wanted Katrina and he knew my connection with her.”

In yet another segment of the same interview, Kabir Khan had revealed another interesting anecdote about the ex-couple, Salman and Katrina. The filmmaker revealed that the actress was sceptical about doing his film, New York as she wasn’t convinced with the plot and the scope of her character. However, it was her then-boyfriend, Salman Khan who convinced Katrina to have faith on Kabir Khan and do the film. The filmmaker stated:
“Those days, she was seeing Salman. Salman asked her ‘how was the meeting?’ She said ‘There is a new filmmaker who has made one film and he offered me a film. It’s interesting, but I don’t know.’ Salman asked ‘Who is the filmmaker?’ so she said ‘there’s this guy called Kabir Khan’. So apparently, Salman said ‘Aankh band karke picture sign kar lo, I have met the boy.’ It’s so sweet that he remembered that one meeting.”
Cut to now, Katrina Kaif is happily married to the love of her life, Vicky Kaushal. Previously, the latter had graced Salman Khan’s show, Bigg Boss 17 to promote one of his films. During their fun banters, Vicky had asked Salman to help him with a nice pick-up line that can be used for women. To this, Salman made a witty remark, as he took a dig at his ex, Katrina Kaif, who in turn is married to Vicky Kaushal. The Bajrangi Bhaijaan-actor remarked that he doesn’t know any pick-up line as most women in his life has instead dropped him off.

Previously, in an interview with Filmfare, Katrina Kaif had reflected on the kind of equation she shares with her ex-beau, Salman Khan. Despite having broken up, the duo continue to remain friends and have collaborated with one another over a number of films. Expressing the kind of bonding they share, Katrina stated:
“The wonderful thing about Salman and my equation over the years as professionals is that it has evolved. When I started with him, I was a complete newcomer. He had done more than 50 plus films and this was my second film. So that has now evolved over the years, right?”
