Ex-couples can be friends after their breakup. This statement has been proved right by none other than our very own Super 30 star, Hrithik Roshan and his designer wife, Sussanne Khan. The ‘Greek God’ of Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan knew each other since childhood. It was love at first sight for Hrithik, when he had seen Sussanne at a traffic signal. Hrithik had proposed to Sussanne for marriage on Valentine’s day, just one year after they started dating.
The couple was once madly-in-love with each other and had shared blissful 17 years of relationship. The two had dated for 4 long years and finally tied the knot in 2000. They had a traditional Hindu wedding. They shared a beautiful understanding with each other until things went wrong and the two decided to part their ways and end their marriage in 2013. The two got divorced in the year 2014 but remain cordial with each other. In a recent interview, Hrithik spoke about his equation with ex-wife, Sussanne Khan. Despite all the ups and down, Sussanne has always been by Hrithik's side like a support system. Hrithik in an interview with Filmfare, has spoken about his relationship with Sussanne post-divorce. He has stated, “I share a wonderful relationship with Sussanne. She’s been and still is a huge part of my life. Just like me, she’s someone who’s constantly striving to be a better human being. It’s nice when people tell me that our relationship is inspiring for them. At the same time, it’s sad that it’s rare for separated couples to find a peaceful, happy and healthy equation. That should change. We must all strive towards a better understanding of the world, a better understanding of ourselves.”
The two are proud parents of two sons, Hrehaan Roshan, 12, and Hridhaan Roshan, 10. They are good friends and parents of their children post their divorce. They have been spotted quite frequently on holidays, dinner dates and movie outings. In a throwback interview with GQ magazine, Hrithik had stated, “It’s a beautiful relationship. With our kids, with us as friends, it’s all about wisdom. One thing is for sure: Love can’t turn into hate. If it’s hate, it wasn’t love. The flipside of love Is also love. Once you understand that, you’ll keep finding ways back into love."
In 2016, there were speculations of the Hrithik and Sussanne’s reconciliation. However, putting an end to those rumours, Sussanne Khan had tweeted, “I request people to stop speculating. There will never be a reconciliation with @iHrithik. Talking about her equation with Hrithik, Sussanne had told an entertainment portal, “I have a support system in Hrithik. It’s not a marriage, but we are friends. That zone is so sacred to me, it doesn’t make me feel sad or lonely. My kids are go-getters. They organise things."
Sussanne has stood by Hrithik in all his ups and downs. During his ugly spat with Queen star, Kangana Ranaut, Sussanne stood by him and supported him throughout. Earlier, Sussanne had posted a picture on her Instagram handle in support of her ex-husband, Hrithik Roshan. Just like everybody, Sussanne’s father, Sanjay Khan is also happy that the two remain cordial with each other. In an interview, Sanjay had stated, “Divorce is a very heartbreaking exercise. I have never asked my daughter [Sussanne] the reason for her parting [with her husband Hrithik Roshan]. I love Hrithik still and I love my daughter. They must have their reasons. Fine. But the good part is, they're still very good friends. And the children don't feel the negative impact of their separation because of the combined efforts of both to keep it working. They holiday together, they take care of the children from time to time, babysitting and stuff."
If rumour mills were to be believed, the reason behind Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan's split was Sussanne khan’s closeness with Arjun Rampal and Hrithik Roshan’s closeness with Kangana Ranaut. However, the two have denied any such rumours in several interviews and public gatherings.
