Bollywood veterans, Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s first daughter, Esha Deol, recently announced her separation from her husband, Bharat Takhtani. The two got married in 2012 and welcomed their two little angels, Radhya in 2017, and Miraya in 2019. Unfortunately, their relationship could not stand the test of time, and Esha and Bharat decided to part ways after more than a decade-long marriage. Ever since their official announcement of divorce, several old interviews of Esha and Bharat have surfaced in the media.

When Esha Deol compared Bharat Takhtani to her father, Dharmendra

In one such interview, Esha Deol was seen comparing her then-husband, Bharat to her father, Dharmendra. She described the businessman as ‘outgoing yet traditional’ in a conversation with Filmfare. Esha mentioned that Bharat knew how to keep his family together, which is a very similar quality just like her father, Dharmendra. She said:

“Bharat’s outgoing yet traditional. In a way, he’s like Papa, he knows how to keep his family together. If he can love and care for them, he won’t let me down either.”

Esha Deol also recalled how Bharat Takhtani had been similar to her mother, Hema Malini

During the same conversation, Esha revealed that Bharat also resembles her mother, Hema Malini in many ways. Just like the veteran actress, Bharat keeps things well-planned, unlike Esha and her father, Dharmendra, who loves being laid back. The actress further shared:

“Like mom, Bharat is raring to go every morning with things well planned. Dad and I are laidback, ‘karenge’ types. Mom and Bharat keep me on my toes.”

When Esha Deol disclosed that she had found a companion who would hold her hand

Esha Deol had also divulged how she was always a protected child, and since getting married, she felt the protectiveness has increased. She revealed her heartfelt feelings about her marital life with Bharat and said that she had someone to hold her hand. In the same interview, Esha also recalled that she did not feel like a lost soul anymore. She said:

“I realised that he’s someone who’ll be mine and remain loyal. I’ve always been a protected child, but now I feel even more protected. I don’t feel like a lost soul anymore. There’s more purpose to life, something to look forward to. There’s a companion to hold my hand, haath pakdne wala koi hai. Also, he’s comfortable with my celebrity status. He doesn’t view me as Esha Deol, he knows me as Esha, his friend.”

Bharat Takhtani said that he doesn’t have any ego

In the same interaction, Esha’s then-husband, Bharat talked about their ‘little tiffs’, and disclosed that he would be the one to solve things out. The businessman also added that the actress has a habit of repeating things. Bharat also talked about not having any ego. He said:

“I don’t like arguments while she has the habit of repeating things. But I’m the first to make up, I don’t have an ego.”

Esha Deol and Bharat Takhtani called it quits after almost 12 years of marriage

Esha and Bharat’s love story was straight out of a classic Bollywood movie. From falling in love during their teen years to breaking up and then reconciling after ten years, their story had every element of a perfect fairy tale. Unfortunately, their relationship could not stand the test of time, and the high school sweethearts decided to part ways after almost 12 years of marriage. Esha and Bharat announced via The Delhi Times on February 6, 2024, that they have amicably parted ways. Their official statement can be read as:

“We have mutually and amicably decided to part ways. Through this shift in our lives, the best interests and welfare of our two children is and will be of utmost importance to us. We’d appreciate our privacy is respected.”
