Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's relationship came under netizens scrutiny after they made an appearance on the first episode of Karan Johar's chat show, Koffee With Karan 8. While the couple tried to set relationship goals, the internet found Deepika a major 'red flag' as she opened up being in an open relationship with Ranveer Singh until he proposed marriage to him. However, netizens found another video of Deepika flirting with Vin Diesel from 2017, after Ranveer Singh revealed that they were 'secretly engaged' in 2015.
Recently, a Reddit user found an old video of Deepika Padukone when she appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. In the clip, Ellen showed Deepika her cosy picture with Vin Diesel and asked her if there was any romance going on. The actress happily revealed that 'there is no fire without smoke'. Further, Deepika added that it was going all in her head. She was quoted as saying:
“But, it’s all in my head! So yeah, I mean in my head I think, like yeah, we are together and we have this amazing chemistry, and we live together and we have these amazing babies! But it’s all in my head."

As soon as the video was uploaded, netizens expressed their opinion. One user wrote, "It’s Ranveer. Ranveer is in her head as per her claims while she is exploring. After hearing This Ranveer is going to be heartbroken. Woh bhi uske liye Sirf nahi tha." Another commented, "DP answer to everything: In my head." One netizen penned, "DP regarding her commitment to RS: "in my head I was committed. DP about her friendship with Anushka: "in my head we're friends". DP about Vin Diesel: In my head we have babies".
However, Deepika's fans also came in her support and defended the actress. One user wrote, "Not an excuse but i think she is just joking about her and Vin Diesel and srk also makes these baby jokes , admittedly they are not very funny."

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone tied the knot on December 14, 2023, in Italy. However, on Koffee With Karan 8, Ranveer revealed that he had proposed marriage to Deepika in 2015 and they were secretly engaged for three years before marriage. Karan Johar looked shocked, and it shows that not many people knew about their engagement.
During one of the segments on Koffee With Karan, Deepika talked about the early stages of their relationship. She added that she didn't commit to Ranveer as she had been into difficult relationships in the past, and wanted to be free of strings. While they were allowed to see other people, they would keep coming back to each other. She was quoted as saying:
"I wanted to be single for a while because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I said 'I just don't want to be attached, don't want to be committed'. And I had fun! And then he came along so I didn't commit until he proposed to me. There was no 'commitment as such. Even if we were technically to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other."
Deepika further shared that she would meet other people, but in her mind, she was committed to Ranveer. The actress was quoted as saying:
"I did meet other people. I wasn’t interested or excited by anyone else that I was seeing. In my mind, I was committed to him. I would meet other people, but at the back of my head, it was like, I am going back to him."
