Bollywood actress, Anushka Sharma has started prepping for her much-awaited film, Chakda Xpress, and has shared glimpses from her practice sessions. The netizens are going gaga over her look and are showering praises on her. Helmed by Prosit Roy, Chakda Xpress is a biographical drama based on the illustrious career of former Indian cricket team captain, Jhulan Goswami. The former cricketer is regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers in the history of world cricket. Also, Jhulan Goswami is the highest wicket-taker in Women's One Day International cricket.
On January 6, 2022, Anushka Sharma had taken to her Instagram handle and had dropped the much-awaited teaser of her upcoming biographical drama, Chakda Xpress, based on the life of former Indian cricket team captain, Jhulan Goswami. The actress had announced her comeback from her sabbatical in the most powerful form as her film's teaser questions, "If cricket is a religion, why are men the only Gods?" From seeing Anushka donning the Indian cricket team's jersey to hearing her speaking in a Bengali accent, netizens had hailed the actress for putting in tremendous efforts in her upcoming film, which will premiere on OTT.
A few moments back, Anushka Sharma took to her IG handle and shared a few glimpses of her practice sessions. While one of the pictures was a closeup of her hand as she learned to grip the cricket ball, in the second picture, we can see Anushka dressed in a black t-shirt and sunglasses. Showing that she is back in action, Anushka penned a note along with the pictures. She captioned the photos as:
"Grip by grip."
As soon as Anushka shared the pictures, her fans flooded the comment section of her post. Some fans were so happy to see Anushka playing cricket that they started calling her the perfect wife of a cricketer. They took to the comment section of the post and started praising the cricketer's wife. While one user wrote, "Bas now you are a perfect wife for a perfect captain", another one took to the comment section to write, "Family business." A netizen's comment can be read as "Ab dikh rahi hai king ki queen." Another netizen wrote, "Sangat ka asar."
Along with Chakda Xpress' first look, Anushka Sharma had also penned an equally heart-melting and inspiring note in the caption. In her note, Anushka had revealed that it is a special film for her because it will show Jhulan Goswami's life that was full of ups and downs. Her note in the caption could be read as:
"It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women's cricket. At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very tough for women to even think of playing the sport. This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped her life and also women's cricket.
Anushka Sharma had also reflected on her film, Chakda Xpress' focal point and had revealed that this film is an eye-opener for every cricket fan in the country. This film will surface the pain that Indian women cricketers had gone through in the past when the women's cricket team had zero support. Reflecting on the condition of women's cricket in a cricket-crazy nation like India, Anushka had highlighted the fact that there's still a lot of work to be done to support women's cricket in India. She had penned:
"She strived to change the stereotype that women can't make a career out of playing cricket in India so that the next generation of girls had a better playing field. Her life is a living testimony that passion and perseverance triumph over any or all adversities, and Chakda Xpress is the most definitive look into the not so rosy world of women's cricket back then. As a cricketing nation, we have to give our women cricketers their due. Jhulan's story is truly an underdog story in the history of cricket in India and the film is our celebration of her spirit."
For the uninitiated, Anushka Sharma was last seen in the film, Zero (2018), alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.
