Bollywood actresses and their close connection with cricket players has been quite historic in our country. There have been quite a few leading ladies from the film industries who had been in a relationship with eminent cricketers. While some of them achieved their happily ever-after, some didn’t and they drifted apart. One such jodi was of Amrita Singh and Ravi Shastri. The duo were allegedly in a steady relationship, but they didn’t end up getting married. Reportedly, it was a shocking condition levied by the cricketer that the diva didn’t agree to, and hence they decided to call it quits.
Before we divulge into that one striking condition which ended the relationship between Ravi Shastri and Amrita Singh, let us recall that the two of them crossed paths at the peak of their careers. While Ravi was the budding captain of the Indian cricket team, Amrita, on the other hand was a few films old and had earned the title of an emergent star. They met one another in November 1986, when they were roped into shooting the cover of the Cine Blitz magazine. Thereafter, speculations were rife that Ravi Shastri and Amrita Singh were head over heels in love with one another, and it was even believed that the cricketer had proposed the actress secretively in a restaurant in New York.

While nearly everything seemed so perfect in their courtship, one may wonder what actually went wrong between Ravi Shastri and Amrita Singh that ended their courtship itself. If several reports are to be believed, the time when the couple wished to take their relationship to the next level, it was the cricketer who placed a shocking condition before the actress. Well, Ravi Shastri apparently didn’t want Amrita to continue in films after their marriage. This was certainly unacceptable to the diva, and she was extremely upset over the same. Apparently the couple had even tried various means of resolution. But the cricketer did not change his condition.
Ultimately when everything failed, Amrita decided it was best to break their relationship. Few years later, in 1991, Amrita ended up marrying actor, Saif Ali Khan, who was 12-years younger to her. The couple got blessed with a daughter, Sara and a son, Ibrahim. Unfortunately, their marriage, too didn’t last long and the couple got divorced in 2004.

Not just Amrita Singh, Ravi Shastri, too, moved on in his life soon after their breakup. In 1990, the talented athlete got married to his childhood friend, Ritu Singh. A few years post their marital bliss, the couple got promoted as parents with the arrival of their daughter, Aleka Shastri. Sadly, 22 years later, in 2012, the couple got divorced due to reasons best known to them.
