It was back in 2016 when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan left everyone baffled with her gorgeous appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. For the day, Aishwarya opted for a light-shaded, off-shouldered dress with intricate floral and leaf embellishment. The Rami Kadi dress came with a body-hugging silhouette and layered trail detailing at the bottom, making it look flowy. With a sleek ponytail and glam makeup, Aishwarya added oomph to her look.
However, it was her bold choice of lipstick that became the talk of the time. For the day, the diva chose purple-hued lipstick with smokey eyeshadow. However, Amitabh Bachchan once reacted to all the talking about his bahu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's dark lipstick colour. In an interview with DNA, when asked about Aishwarya's look being a trend on social media, Big B, as a doting father-in-law, asked if there was anything wrong with the same. He also added that earlier, there was no social media, and people never could know what others had been thinking about them. Talking more about the same, Big B added that the good side of social media is that in just one day, any topic can see its end as new topics continue to arrive. Amitabh added:
"What is wrong with that? Social media gives someone the opportunity to express themselves. You’ve never had that opportunity before, you never knew what others were thinking about you, at least now you know. And the good part is, it lasts for a day or half-a-day; the next day, something else comes up.”
Going further in the interview, Amitabh Bachchan shared that in the fast-paced world, people have very little time, and their attention spans are generally small. He also talked about the good side of social media, as it provides people a platform to express themselves, speak up, and more. Big B could be quoted as saying:
"Things move so rapidly in today’s life that you don’t have time. One’s attention span is so limited and so small. Whether it is watching the news on TV, every two minutes you hear a bang in the middle of the most sincere news, purely because they don’t want you to get to your remote and change the channel. That’s how life has become. Social media gives everybody a voice, everybody an opportunity, everybody a democratic opportunity to express themselves. What’s wrong with that?”

For those who chipped in late, a screenshot of Big B's IG following list was shared online, wherein Aishwarya was absent, even though a lot of actresses were there. Such an incident left netizens upset while igniting the separation rumours between Abhishek and Aishwarya. However, later, Amitabh took to his IG handle and posted a cryptic note, which could be read as:
"Everything said everything done .. so do the done and done the do .."
