Bollywood actress, Ameesha Patel has been hitting the headlines for the age-old controversy surrounding the film, Jism, and Bipasha Basu’s comment about her on the show, Koffee With Karan. Earlier, reports claimed that Ameesha was offered a role in the film, Jism, but she turned it down because she felt that her grandmother wouldn't have been happy. Later, Bipasha reacted to the statement and claimed that Ameesha was ‘too petite', and her whole frame was wrong for the film.
Now, Ameesha Patel finally reacted to the controversial remark she made against Bipasha Basu many years ago and revealed that she said so because she is not comfortable with skin show. However, Ameesha, who often shares sultry bikini-clad pictures of herself on social media, raised many eyebrows with her latest statements. A Reddit user shared a picture collage of Ameesha, one from the interview and the other from her sexy IG post, and dubbed the actress as ‘hypocrite’. Sharing the post, the user penned:
“Hypocrisy much?"

Now, the post is going viral on social media, and netizens are not shying away from taking nasty digs on Ameesha for her hypocritical statement. Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Oh ameesha! life does come to a full circle eh," and another one commented, “Sab paise ka khel hai babu bhaiya." Meanwhile, a third user wrote, “Hypocrisy ke naam pe if she gets publicity that’s also a win." Check out the comments below:
For those who have been living under a rock, Ameesha Patel broke her silence on Jism and Bipasha Basu’s comment after years. In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha revealed that she still stands by her statement. However, she heaped praises on the film and Bipasha and mentioned that it takes guts to be bold physically. But Ameesha went on to add that she is not comfortable with skin show on the screen. In her words:
“I don’t think Basic Instinct is a bad film. Sharon Stone is a goddess. Jism was a fantastic film with great music, great performances. All I am saying is why Bipasha. I am not comfortable being a Sharon Stone. I think it takes guts to be there, be bold physically. I can be called sexy and hot. Am I that comfortable with that amount of boldness and skin show on screen, I am not."

Further in the interview, Ameesha recalled her sensual song, Lazy Lamhe, in which she was seen wearing a bold yellow-hued bikini. Talking about the same, the actress shared that she told the producer, Aditya Chopra that she wouldn't be comfortable wearing a bikini, so they allowed her to wear hot pants with the bikini top. However, she again clarified that she didn't mean to badmouth Bipasha as the latter was amazing. She added:
“For Lazy Lamhe, I was the first Yash Raj heroine who had the guts to tell Adi (Aditya Chopra) that I will not be in a bikini. Hence, the hot pants with the bikini top. I told the top producer of the country that I will not be comfortable and am willing to walk out of the film. It was not said in bad taste towards Bipasha because I think she was amazing."
Meanwhile, Ameesha Patel is all set to return to films in the film, Gadar 2, which will release on August 11, 2023.
