Abhishek Bachchan's Patriarchal Remark On Bachchan Legacy Irks Netizens, 'Sad For Aish And Aaradhya'

The Bachchan family needs no introduction, as it has given some of the most brilliant actors to Bollywood. While Amitabh Bachchan's parents, Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan created a niche for themselves away from the filmy world, their son went on to become the Shehenshah of Bollywood. Big B's wife, Jaya Bachchan is also a well-known actress, whereas their son, Abhishek is also not left behind. Indeed, the Bachchan legacy is unbeatable!

Abhishek Bachchan's remark on his respect for his surname

In a recent podcast with Raj Shamani, Abhishek Bachchan opened up about his values and respect for his surname, ‘Bachchan’. Talking about the same, he revealed that he considers his surname sacred to his very existence, as it has made him what he is worth today. Reflecting his immense respect and dignity for the same, Abhishek mentioned that after him, his daughter, Aaradhya, has been trying to understand the weight and legacy of their surname. Crediting his wife, Aishwarya, Abhishek mentioned that the former has already taught their daughter about the great legacy that her grandfather and great-grandfather have carried over the ages.

When netizens called out Amitabh Bachchan for not hyping his bahu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Well, this is not the first time that people have called out the Bachchan family for being patriarchal. A while back, Amitabh Bachchan shared a throwback picture of himself with his daughter, Shweta and his friend, late Rajesh Khanna's daughter, Twinkle Khanna. Along with the rare picture, Big B penned a note to cheer for his grandson, Agastya, who is all set to make his acting debut with The Archies. A Reddit user reshared the picture and pointed out how Big B never posts anything for his bahu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, even on the possible biggest films of her career. The user penned:

"Amit Ji couldn't post for Aish, on her possible biggest films of career. But here posting a picture of Twinkle Khanna and Shweta Nanda so he can connect the dots and hype Agastya's upcoming film Archies to his 34.5 millions followers. Nana ji ki priorities clear hai."

As soon as the post was shared on Reddit, netizens bombarded the comment section and started a debate. Many social media users pointed out the hypocrisy of the Bachchan clan for not cheering for Aishwarya even on her biggest achievements. Reacting to the video, one user penned, "Bachchans are known to be deeply deeply patriarchal. But I think they’ve all just settled into their own spaces & Ash is her own world, it appears. But from Naavya’s podcast, it’s clear that she, Shweta & Jaya don’t really care for Ash. They spoke about everyone in the family BUT her. It’s very telling." Another one commented, "There's a reason why Aish’s mom unfollowed both Amitabh and Abhishek."
