Yash's expectations for Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups' OTT release have apparently been smashed by the box office crash. Amid the buzz, reports have now gone rife that the film's post-theatrical deal is proving to be another concern for the makers. It is alleged that Toxic's digital rights are still not officially sold, while the amounts offered by streaming platforms have reportedly fallen considerably.

Yash's Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is being offered Rs. 30 crore for OTT release

Before Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was released in theatres, the makers were offered around Rs. 150 crore by some leading streaming platforms. However, the team was looking for an offer that was worth more than Rs. 200 crore. Nonetheless, with the film's box-office downfall, it appears the film might not even get one-third of what it was being offered.

According to reports, the makers of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups had expected the film's theatrical performance to increase its digital value. Nonetheless, it has worked against them, and they are now concerned about the OTT offers. A source spoke to Bollywood Hungama and said:

"The Toxic team had an offer of Rs. 150 crore from a leading platform, but the demand from the team was a lot higher, north of Rs. 200 crore. The digital players are now offering an amount as low as Rs. 30 crore for the post-theatrical streaming rights for all languages."

The report states that ZEE5 is among the platforms involved in the current negotiations. However, there has been no official announcement from the makers confirming an OTT partner or the final value of the deal. Nonetheless, given Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups' performance, it won't be surprising if the makers have to sell the rights for the speculated price.

Amid the buzz around Toxic's OTT release, the reported change in its digital valuation could also lead to changes in the film itself. According to a media outlet, the makers are considering a separate edit for the streaming release, partly because of the film's adult-oriented storytelling. The idea is being discussed as a possible way to reduce losses from the film and make its digital version more appealing to the audience. However, so far these just remain speculations.
