Luna had spent the last year of her life using social media, where she shared the real side of the realities of living with dementia at a young age. In turn, she also raised awareness about end-of-life choices. Meanwhile, her family shared that she died in the presence of her loved ones.
Rebecca Luna was a content creator from Victoria, British Columbia. In fact, her following increased after she shared in April 2025 that she was diagnosed with young-onset Alzheimer's disease at 48. But instead of hiding her illness from the world, she chose to share her journey on TikTok.
The majority of Luna's content focused on her daily challenges, medical appointments, and the emotional impact of living with Alzheimer's. Eventually, she became popular among people facing terminal illness and difficult end-of-life decisions.
In fact, she made videos to answer questions from her followers, shared resources, and more. Luna even encouraged open conversations about Alzheimer's disease and medically assisted dying. In turn, her positive attitude had earned her more than 300,000 followers. Many of her followers even expressed their gratitude towards her for helping them better understand the disease.
Apart from social media, Luna was a dedicated single mother to her two daughters. She often shared how she wanted to protect her family while preparing for the future. She also shared many personal stories about overcoming difficult experiences earlier in life. The TikTok content creator also mentioned that her health journey had helped her to learn to value herself in new ways.
One of the most happy moments for Rebecca came when she met singer Lily Allen, whom she has described as one of the people on her bucket list. After she shared her wish online, she eventually met the singer at one of her concerts. But later she called it one of the best moments of her life.
Rebecca Luna's family announced her death on her TikTok account on July 25, 2026. The post confirmed that she died peacefully at around 1:15 p.m. in the presence of her loved ones. In fact, just a few days before her death, Rebecca had informed her followers that she had decided to move forward with medically assisted dying earlier than her original plan.
Rebecca explained that the decision was more about taking control of her own life because her condition continued to progress. At the same time, in one of her final videos, she mentioned that she had "suffered enough". Therefore, she was to focus on her comfort and dignity.
Before her death, Rebecca mentioned everything she had learned during the journey. So, she encouraged others to love themselves, protect their peace, and stand up for themselves. The TikTok content creator revealed that she had finally learned to take care of the younger version of herself after spending years putting everyone else first.
Recently, her death was honored with countless tributes from her followers. They discussed and raised her courage, honesty, and willingness to discuss many topics that are often considered difficult or uncomfortable.
After Rebecca's medically assisted dying procedure was conducted, her family has encouraged her supporters to spread the message she shared during her final months.
