Meet Kumar Mangalam Birla's daughter, Ananya Birla, who carved a name for herself in business, music, and social circles.
Aditya Birla Group is one of the biggest conglomerates in India. Founded nearly 167 years ago by the late industrialist, Ghanshayam Das Birla, the company has expanded into multiple industries like cotton, textiles, and jute. In 1995, Kumar Mangalam Birla joined the group and consolidated all companies under the Aditya Birla Group brand.
Kumar Mangalam Birla is married to Neerja Birla, and they are parents to three kids, Ananya Birla, Advaitesha Birla, and Aryaman Birla. Just like the billionaire businessman, his eldest daughter, Ananya Birla, too, is a popular name in the business circuit. Not just in the business world, Ananya has also spread her wings in the entertainment industry. At 31, Ananya is a leading businesswoman and artist.
After completing her schooling at the American School of Bombay, Ananya got enrolled at Oxford University to study economics and management. However, her passion for music made her drop out of college as she decided to pursue a career in music. She shifted to the U.S. and launched her debut single Livin’ the Life with Afrojack.
Ananya’s bold step made her the first Indian artist to go platinum in English. She later collaborated with Sean Kingston and Mood Melodies, achieving 350 million streams worldwide. Some of Ananya's top songs include Hold On, Meant To Be, Circles, Better, Blackout, Day Goes By, Let There Be Love, Everybody's Lost, and Hindustani Way. Speaking about her love for music, Ananya once told Vogue India:
“Music made me feel like I fit in somewhere. It made me feel understood. It took away the loneliness and gave me something to call my own.”
As her career as a musician flourished, Ananya ventured into business and launched Svatantra Microfin at age 17. The microfinance venture provides small loans to rural women to build their livelihoods. Ananya’s company has already won the Gold Award for Best Start-Up at the Skoch Financial Inclusion and Deepening Awards in 2014. In 2016, Ananya Birla was appointed as the new founder and CEO of Ikai Asia.
Ananya Birla also co-founded MPower, a mental health initiative that stops the stigma around mental health and helps with the treatment. Ananya gave her own example while addressing her struggle with anxiety and depression as a reason for building a platform for change and access to treatment. She also launched CuroCarte, a high-end online store featuring handpicked, handmade products from skilled artisans worldwide.
In 2025, Ananya Birla announced her entry into the fast-growing beauty and cosmetic space. While announcing her venture, Ananya emphasised that the beauty and personal care brands are built for the new age and will challenge conventions and redefine consumer experience. Ananya’s cosmetic venture is through Birla Cosmetics Pvt Ltd., which focuses on premium, homegrown brands such as LOVETC (colour cosmetics) and Contraband (fragrances).
Ananya Birla is not just a name; it’s a brand in itself. Of course, being Kumar Mangalam Birla’s daughter comes with both privilege and pressure. She might have been born with a silver spoon, but for her, upholding the legacy of her family was a priority. In an interview with Vogue India, Ananya revealed chasing her dreams with immense pressure and said:
“My childhood was very sheltered. I had a curfew and a bodyguard. I felt a lot of pressure to be this perfect kid. I felt claustrophobic trying to live up to what I thought the world wanted me to be. But it also led me to pursue my dreams and become the person I wanted be.”
Despite being the daughter of one of the richest men in India, Ananya carved her own name in the business, social, and entertainment circles. Over the past decade, she has proven she’s more than her surname. She reinvented herself multiple times as a singer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and beauty mogul.
Talking about her whopping net worth, as reported by the Financial Express, Ananya Birla’s personal net worth is estimated to be around USD 13 billion, which is approximately Rs. 1,000 crores to Rs. 1,770 crores.
