Before we jump into Harvey Weinstein's marriage and divorce with Eve Chilton, let's take a quick look at what happened in court on September 23, 2026. Miriam Haley also appeared in court and talked about suffering through years of humiliation and trials, calling her experience following the assault "already been a life sentence".
The prosecutors asked the court to sentence Harvey Weinstein to 20 years with five years' post-release supervision, stating that he never showed any type of remorse for his crimes. The film producer said, "I live with many regrets and sincerely apologize for my actions." His defense also argued that he was too sick to serve a long sentence. Before giving the sentence, Judge Curtis Farber acknowledged that Harvey will not just be remembered for producing films, but for being the face of the #MeToo movement.
While Harvey Weinstein's second wife, Georgina Chapman, has often been in the limelight, his first marriage has been more like a forgotten chapter. Before Georgina, Harvey was married to Eve Chilton, who worked as an assistant for the film producer at Miramax in 1986. She caught Harvey's attention, and within a year they married. At the time, no films had Oscar buzz or parties filled with A-list stars, and Harvey was far from the wealthy executive he would one day become.
Eve, on the other hand, was the well-off daughter of a prominent New England family who enjoyed summers on Martha's Vineyard, which made it seem like Harvey Weinstein was marrying above his rank. Her mother, Maude, was a descendant of Edmund Randolph, the first Attorney General of the United States, and her great-grandfather founded the nation's first global law firm, Hunton and Williams.
On the other hand, Eve's father, Tom, was an investment adviser who worked with clients in the Boston area as well as on Nantucket and the Vineyard. The family also belonged to a number of prestigious clubs, most notably The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts.
The couple was in love and excited to build a family, and over the next two decades, while Harvey built a name for himself, she quietly supported him through everything and welcomed their three daughters. While Eve never commented on their relationship, former Miramax employee Mark Lispky spoke about the relationship that blossomed between Eve and Harvey as soon as she began working at the company in Peter Biskind's 2004 book Down and Dirty Pictures. Mark said:
"It seemed like not even a day [passed] before he was all over her. For possibly a couple of weeks or so, there were a dozen roses on her desk when we walked in to work, to the point where we had to confront him and say, 'You can't do this; it's an office, not your personal, sexual playground.'"
However, cracks eventually appeared, and Harvey and Eve parted ways in 2004. According to reports, one of the biggest reasons for their separation was Harvey's affairs. The New York Times stated that many of Harvey's sexual harrasment incidents took place while Eve was either pregnant or had given birth to their daughters. For the unversed, the couple welcomed their first daughter, Lily, in 1995, followed by Emma in 1998, and in 2002, Ruth.
While the producer found love with Georgina Chapman, Eve found solace with Sal Martirano. The couple quickly combined their families, with Eve's new husband having two sons from his previous relationship who were roughly the same age as her daughters. While Harvey became the talk of the entertainment world, Eve was rarely ever mentioned in any interviews or interacted with the media herself.
Despite being the wife of one of America's most infamously temperamental film executives, Eve never shared any information on her private life or family. It is believed she did this because, unlike her husband, she did not care to be a public figure. This approach was further stemmed from her upbringing and her family's ties to some of this nation's most esteemed forefathers.
Eve and Harvey finalized their divorce in 2004. However, the two still attended events together as though they were a couple, showing up in November of that year for the 32nd Annual Promise Ball in New York City. While they kept the details of their divorce and the settlements under wraps, it was revealed that Eve gained possession of their 5,500-square-foot apartment at 88 Central Park West. However, she eventually sold the place.
The 5-bedroom, 6.5-bath apartment was sold for USD 23 million before Eve moved to Rye and married Sal Martirano. While she completely backed away from the limelight after the divorce, it is believed that she still lives in Rye with her husband and their blended family.
