Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleThalapathy Vijay’s much-anticipated film, Jana Nayagan, is slated for a July 23, 2026, release, and his fans are thrilled to experience his power-packed performance. The political drama was earlier slated to be released in January 2026 but got delayed by seven months after the film got leaked. Now reports surfaced that the leak happened ‘deliberately’.
During the promotional campaign in Chennai, director H Vinoth was asked about the film’s leak being a deliberate attempt to help Vijay win the polls. The director dismissed the rumours and said that a film made on a budget of Rs. 400 crores would not have leaked so easily. The director also pointed out that Thalapathy Vijay was not the CM when the film got leaked.
In the same interaction, when Vinoth was asked why Vijay didn’t appeal to fans against viewing the pirated version, he shared that if the actor had done that, then he would have been trolled. Vinoth stated that Vijay didn’t address his film’s leak as there were other big issues of national interest and his views on piracy would have brought unnecessary criticism.
During an interview with CNN-News18, the filmmaker shared his gratitude towards people who refrained from watching the pirated copy of Jana Nayagan. He also pointed out the impact of the leak and said:
“When leaks happen, even a CM or PM can’t help. It can’t be stopped. It would be spread. Someone has put in a lot of money. What will happen to that? There are several actors who may be impacted. It’s like building a fort, and then when it is demolished, there is pain, right? This is similar to that. So we had to move legally.”
After the film was leaked in April 2026, the legal team representing the film’s production house, KVN Productions LLP, issued a public notice warning against the circulation of any leaked content, including clips, images, or full versions of the film.
Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan marks Vijay's final film as an actor since the new Tamil Nadu CM will focus on his political career. The film is inspired by Telugu film Bhagavanth Kesari. The film features a prominent ensemble cast, including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj and Narain.
After the film was leaked, the CBFC directed the makers to implement several modifications, including trimming certain scenes, replacing footage, and muting a few references related to religion and Vijay's political party. For Jana Nayagan, Thalapathy Vijay received the highest remuneration. As per multiple reports, Vijay has been paid around Rs. 220 crores as fees. The report further stated that if the film crosses a global box-office collection, then the actor will be paid Rs. 31 crores as a bonus.

The newly released promo features some high-octane action sequences. People are already keeping their hopes high for Vijay’s film, and since it is the actor’s last film, there is an emotional angle too for his fans.
