She served as communications director for former Arizona Senator Martha McSally before moving to the office of then-Vice President Mike Pence. Katie also worked as Pence's press secretary from October 2019 to May 2020.
It was also around this time that her relationship with Stephen began to develop. The pair met working in the Department of Homeland Security under Trump's first term. Professionally, they also stayed connected, with Katie later having a role in the second Trump administration.
Katie worked with Elon Musk on the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, during Trump's second term, and became one of its popular faces. She later launched The Katie Miller Podcast, where she has interviewed prominent conservative figures and discussed politics, culture, and family life.
Katie has also remained an outspoken Trump supporter. Her comments about the 2026 midterm elections attracted attention after Republicans lost control of both chambers of Congress. During a CBS News election-night appearance, she suggested that some Republican-leaning mothers were too busy raising children to vote. Stephen and Katie married in February 2020 after meeting through their work in the Trump administration. Her message after the appointment also offered a personal glimpse into their relationship. She wrote that meeting Stephen at the Department of Homeland Security had changed her life, adding, "Without him, our four beautiful children wouldn't exist."
Away from their political careers, Stephen and Katie are raising four children: one daughter and three sons. The couple's children are Mackenzie Jay, Jackson Grant, Hudson Monroe, and Hawthorne Hayes. The couple welcomed their first child, Mackenzie Jay Miller, on November 19, 2020.
