On July 11, 2026, a day after she filed for an emergency protective order against Duffey, Gilson posted a short TikTok participating in a popular trend where users pretend they are being interviewed in a future Netflix documentary. The influencer can be seen sitting silently in front of the camera, overlaying the now-viral text:
"Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile."
The 15-second clip quickly resurfaced following news of her death, with millions of viewers revisiting the post and expressing shock at its timing. Just 12 days after posting the TikTok, police reached the influencer's home in Owasso, Oklahoma, following a domestic violence report.
When responders from the Owasso Police Department reached the scene, they discovered Gilson and Duffey dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Authorities have described the case as an apparent murder-suicide, though the investigation remains ongoing pending final findings from the medical examiner.
The deaths have sent shockwaves across social media, where Gilson had built a following through lifestyle and personal content. However, it is important to note that while the video reflected Gilson's own allegation against her estranged husband, it should not be interpreted as establishing any criminal finding.

Owasso Police Department spokesperson Captain Nick Boatman reportedly said that Sara Gilson's husband had inappropriately touched a juvenile female member of the team he was coaching inside the school during an event. Gilson had earlier submitted a protective order against Duffey, alleging that he had kissed a child from one of the basketball teams he coached. When Duffey was confronted, he allegedly threatened suicide and fled the situation.
Detectives had earlier shared that Jeremiah was a member of the Osage Indian Tribe of Oklahoma. The charge of molesting a minor revealed:
"This incident was considered a ‘Major Crime’ under the Federal Major Crimes Act. The report, listing the crime of Lewd Molestation of a Minor, was sent to the US Attorney’s Office for review, ending the jurisdiction of the Owasso Police Department over this reported incident.”
The OPD statement further alleged that Duffey engaged in inappropriate conduct with a minor, an incident that another team coach reportedly witnessed and eventually reported to law enforcement. By the time officers began investigating, Jeremiah Duffey had allegedly fled the scene and had not been located by Owasso police. Authorities also stated that the alleged lewd conduct toward the juvenile occurred over an extended period and spanned multiple law enforcement jurisdictions across several states before the incident was reported.
