She revealed that initially, Rosie was ‘a little judgy’ about her and other women getting cosmetic surgery. However, with time, her views have changed, especially after she underwent some cosmetic procedures herself, including a really expensive facelift.
Rosie had previously admitted that there was one person in her life that she did not inform after getting the facelift. This person was her youngest child, Clay.
Rosie O'Donnell got a facelift in secret in January 2026. She later shared her before-and-after photos, explaining that she decided to pull the curtain on her cosmetic procedure as part of a wider commentary on ‘authenticity.’ While speaking with E! News at the 2026 Tony Awards, Rosie said that people are constantly lying about everything to the American public. She found that deeply unsettling and depressing, as she believes all that matters is the truth. In her words:
“Authenticity is the goal in these days and times, and people are lying about everything all day to the American public. It’s very depressing to me and unsettling, and I think all that matters is truth and love, and so I wanted to be truthful and say all the complicated emotions I had about it.”
Rosie O'Donnell also revealed that by sharing the before-and-after images of her facelift, she wanted to have a “gotcha” moment and beat the tabloids to it. In this way, the former TV personality gave a facelift blueprint to those people who were interested in it. She said:
“I just wanted to say, ‘This is what I did, and here’s the doctor, and if you want to.’ But it’s very expensive—it’s more expensive than any car I ever bought, but I can’t drive around in my face.”
In the same interview, Rosie confessed that there was still one person in her life whom she did not tell that she got a facelift. This was her youngest child, Clay (previously Dakota). For those unaware, Rosie, who is also the mother of Parker, Chelsea, Blake, and Vivienne, adopted Clay when they were just a baby in 2013. The comedian revealed that Clay had told her something because of which she could not tell her about the facelift. She said:
“My little autistic 13-year-old said to me, ‘If you do it, I would not be able to respect you ever again.'”
Rosie O’Donnell claimed that Clay’s comments had put her off from getting the facelift for a few months. But she finally went ahead with it in January 2026. She said that when she came home ten days later, her kids didn't even notice that she got work done on her face.
Rosie’s decision to go under the knife was a major 180, considering she previously saw it as a “betrayal of feminism, of aging, of our team of women worldwide.” She explained that the reason she changed her mind was that she has been on the GLP-1 medication Mounjaro for the last three years. She also has diabetes and recently lost over 50 pounds, which caused extra skin to form around her face.
According to Rosie, there were two lines on her face that made her look particularly sad. While it has already been several months since she got the surgery, she said that she is happy with the results and doesn't plan on getting any more procedures done as of now.
