In a recent conversation, her ex-husband Patrick Clancy's legal team commented on the bizarre theories circulating. According to reports, they have slammed the claims alleging that Patrick had any sort of involvement in the death of his three children.
Patrick Clancy's legal team is speaking out amid claims against their client. Following the declaration of a mistrial on September 4, 2026 (ET), his attorney, Howard Cooper of Todd & Weld, released a statement about the rumors surrounding his client. He has taken a jab at the theorists who alleged that Patrick was somehow involved in the deaths of his three young children: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan.
Howard Cooper told PEOPLE that over the past months, his client, Patrick Clancy, and his family had faced relentless defamation. He called out the defamation campaigns for spreading misinformation, and stated:
"Over the past months, Patrick Clancy and his family have been subjected to a relentless, escalating and destructive defamation campaign. This campaign of misinformation has been launched and promoted by minor celebrities, so-called influencers and outright conspiracy theorists who appear intent on boosting their own social media profiles and potential profit by publishing what they know to be outright falsehoods that Patrick was somehow involved in the death of his young children and other vile claims."
Howard Cooper further added that Patrick Clancy has faced "real life threats to his reputation, livelihood, and life," as a result of these claims. According to the lawyer, his client wanted to address the subject in order to "return his attention to what matters: preserving the memory of Cora, Dawson and Callan Clancy and supporting other women facing perinatal mental health challenges." He concluded by saying "enough is enough," and that law enforcement has been notified about the "baseless falsehoods."
In the wake of the mistrial declaration, Patrick's attorney, David Meier, released a separate statement, saying Patrick was grateful to the court and the jurors for their hard work, commitment, and perseverance. For the uninitiated, Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on Friday, September 4, 2026, after jurors said they could not reach a unanimous verdict following more than a week of deliberations. A part of the statement read:
"The loss of Patrick's children is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure. The prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful, for Patrick, for his family, and for all of us."
Patrick Clancy publicly forgave his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, after she murdered their three children. For those who don't know, in January 2023, Lindsay sent Patrick out to run some errands before she fatally strangled their young kids and jumped out of a second-story window in an apparent suicide attempt. The jump left Lindsay paralyzed from the waist down and led her to face criminal charges for the murders.
In the months leading up to the killings, Lindsay had been seeking professional medical help with different psychiatrists who prescribed her various medications. After forgiving Lindsay, Patrick also took the stand during the trial, leading to significant online chatter about his own culpability.
It is to be noted that Lindsay did not deny killing Cora, Dawson, and Callan at their Duxbury home on January 24, 2023. However, she pleaded not guilty and pursued a defense centered on lack of criminal responsibility. Her defense claimed that she was experiencing postpartum psychosis and hallucinated a male voice telling her to kill her children and then herself.
