And after Nathaniel Cullerton was caught kissing his co-worker in a park, he was placed on leave amid an investigation into the viral kissing video.
The reports also claim that the lawyer, who makes at least USD 4 million as a partner at the white-shoe law firm, Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, could lose tens of millions of dollars after a lucrative job offer was reportedly rescinded. As per reports, the company that had initially offered the job to the lawyer pays USD 12 million, which makes their employees handsomely paid partners.
Cullerton jumped into a soup of controversy at the worst possible time, as he was all set to get hired by a major Big Law firm amid a major shakeup, as per the insiders. However, his hiring at Gibson Dunn was scrapped after the kissing video surfaced on the internet. While many may think that it was the lawyer's image that was at stake, there were many who called out the content creator for recording him in the first place.
For the unversed, in the said clip, the man in the video is a 45-year-old lawyer, Nathaniel D Cullerton. He was seen kissing his much younger co-worker, Kelsey Borenzweig, who is 29 years old. The video went instantly viral, and later the Daily Mail tracked down the lovers only to find that it was a case of an extramarital affair.
Nathaniel and Kelsey have been part of the Wachtell Lipton team that repped OpenAI and had beaten Elon Musk's USD 150 billion lawsuit in a California Court in 2025. It is worth adding that it is not yet clear if the lawyer was placed on paid leave or whether he would be fired from his position in the company or not.
Coming back to the viral clip, the 45-year-old lawyer was dressed up in a pale blue suit with a tan Oxford shirt. He was making out with the woman he was sitting with in the park. He gave a big smile when he faced the TikToker holding the camera, but as soon as Guapo scolded them and asked them to get a room, the smile vanished from his face.
The woman looked pretty in beige pants and a brown-patterned bolero jacket. It was a chance encounter, which the TikToker thought of filming to mock their PDA. Talking about Nathaniel D Cullerton's personal life, he married Penza in February 2016. She is also a partner at a top law firm, Wilkinson Stekloff.
Soon, netizens on Reddit reacted to the lawyer's suspension and losing a lucrative job offer. One user wrote, "Interesting. And that's actually crazy about Nate. Not only is he under internal investigation, but Wachtell also knows that he was about to jump ship. Dude is done there. And this is a major loss for Wachtell."
Another user penned, "Will they not just be waiting for things to die down before hiring him later? It’s not like people will care about that video in six months." A third user commented, "Had the park makeout happened a mere weeks later, it wouldn’t have been a story. Two attorneys from different firms? Who cares! It was that they immediately identified him as a superior at the same firm that made this story go viral."
