According to a report by Radar Online, Nicolas Cage was away at the Cannes Film Festival when a reporter for The National Enquirer caught his then-wife, Alice Kim, cheating on him. The reporter watched as Alice smooched a ‘hunky bar manager’ in Las Vegas. Their date came after claims that Alice was having an affair with a man named Carl Foglietti behind the actor's back were posted online.
Alice was seen arriving with Carl at The Bar at Flamingo & Grand Canyon, which is a 24-hour hangout. Alice looked dolled up for her date, wearing shorts and high heels. The pair reportedly shared a tender moment at around 12:30 a.m., “sitting on stools at the corner of the bar, lost in conversation with each other.” The reporter said:
"At one point, he drew her in for a romantic kiss. You could hear her giggling. They also did shots and tried to convince the pretty bartender to have one with them."
Alice and Carl’s booze-fuelled PDA came to an end after an hour. They were careful about keeping a distance from each other before leaving in separate vehicles.
When The National Enquirer confronted Nicolas Cage's rep about Alice’s affair, they were quick to deny the story. However, they announced just hours later that Nicolas and Alice were separated. A source close to the situation told Radar Online:
“Nick was blindsided when he was confronted with allegations that Alice had been cheating on him — all while he was at the Cannes film festival. The reality is that Alice has been regularly spotted in Nevada with another man— and was even caught kissing him behind Nick’s back.”
Nicolas Cage had been living with Alice Kim and their young son, Kal-El, in an upscale gated community near Summerlin, Nevada, at the time of the incident. The place was just 30 minutes west of the Las Vegas Strip where Alice and Carl were spotted.
Rumors about Alice and Carl's close friendship initially began after a cryptic comment was posted by a user named “Carlswife” under an article about the National Treasure star on Las Vegas Weekly’s website. The comment, which was later deleted, read:
"His wife Alice Kim has been cheating on him with Carl Foglietti, manager of Grape Street Café in downtown Summerlin. He also sleeps in Queensridge, where Nick (sic) resides with his family when Nick is out of town for projects."
Despite the username “Carlswife,” reports claimed that Carl was not married. But he did have a son with a former partner when news of the affair broke.
Alice Kim was Nicolas Cage’s third wife. The actor previously had unsuccessful relationships with Patricia Arquette and an infamously short 4-month marriage with Lisa Marie Presley. Alice and Nicolas first met back in February 2004 when she served him while working as a waitress in a Los Angeles restaurant. The duo got engaged just two months later before they tied the knot in Northern California.
