The new incident comes after reports that Thoppi leaked nude photographs of his former friends on social media following a bitter breakdown in his content group.
The police recently booked the YouTuber, which has renewed public interest in the influencer’s long history of arrests, controversies, and online scandals.
The case was lodged on June 20, 2026, from a complaint made by lawyer Sreejith Perumana. After a public dispute among his circle of friends, police say Thoppi streamed and shared obscene material online, including nude images involving his former acquaintances. The complaint also apparently pointed to other alleged transgressions, including drug usage and crimes involving kids. The fight broke out when members of Thoppi’s content group traded accusations of wrongdoing online, sparking a nasty social media backlash that has since gone viral.
Mohammed Nihad, also known as Mrz Thoppi on the internet, is a YouTuber, gamer, rapper, and livestreamer living in Kerala, who became recognised for his gaming content and raw online character. The Kannur-based influencer had built a huge following through PUBG streams, challenge videos, and reaction content. He has hundreds of thousands of followers on his YouTube account, mainly among young teens.
Yet his popularity has often been marred by criticism of his use of foul language, inflammatory comments, and provocative behaviour online. Critics often accuse him of encouraging vulgarity, body-shaming, misogynistic statements, and unpleasant humour, but his defenders believe that his content is a form of unfiltered entertainment that appeals to a younger audience.
The latest episode is about a dramatic fallout within Thoppi's inner circle, which fans commonly dub the ‘Mrz Gang.’ Former associates alleged the creator mistreated team members, withheld salaries, and engaged in unethical behaviour. The feud worsened when both sides reportedly started distributing private footage and recordings online. Post the public outcry, the cyber police acted on accusations that obscene material had been streamed and circulated over social media sites.
It is not the first time that Thoppi has been under the scanner of the authorities. In April 2025, the influencer was arrested for reportedly threatening employees of a private bus with what seemed to be a handgun during a road disagreement. The event drew much attention until officials ultimately concluded the weapon involved was an air pistol, not a registered handgun.
Earlier, one of the most talked about scandals of Thoppi was in 2023 when a garment store was inaugurated in Kerala. Hundreds of ardent admirers, many of them school students, attended the event, causing huge traffic congestion in the vicinity. Videos from the occasion showed thousands of people gathering to get a look at the influencer.
Later, the police detained Thoppi on charges of obscene content, harsh language, and public nuisance. Video footage of cops smashing their way into an apartment where Thoppi had barricaded himself while live-streaming the incident soon went viral on social media.
Thoppi was again booked by authorities for flashing a business owner’s phone number during a livestream, just weeks after his arrest in 2023. This reportedly led to people flooding the number with prank calls and angry texts, resulting in allegations of online harassment and abuse of digital platforms.
The latest obscenity case has once again placed Thoppi under intense public scrutiny. The Ernakulam Rural Cyber Police took up the case because the alleged streaming of obscene content was carried out from Varappuzha, where Thoppi was reportedly staying at the time. Investigators have yet to address other serious accusations mentioned in his complaint, including alleged drug use and offences involving minors.
