Recently, actor, Martin Short revealed that he accidentally cut the wedding cake of Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco and tried to fix it with a fork.
Martin Short is a popular actor and comedian, who is well known for his role in the show, Only Murders In the Building. Recently, he shared an interesting incident from Selena Gomez and Beny Blanco's wedding. For the unversed, the couple tied the knot on September 27, 2025, in an intimate wedding in California.
Recently, actor, Martin Short appeared on the talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, during which he opened up about Selena Gomez's wedding with longtime boyfriend, Benny Blanco. During a candid chat, Martin Short revealed that at the night of their reception, he accidentally cut the wedding cake of Selena and Benny before them. He was quoted as saying:
"The wedding was perfect, and it was beautiful... So everything was perfect, except the night of the reception. And there was a wedding cake by our section, but it was a small wedding cake. I just assumed there was a wedding cake for each section in the back. Maybe I'd had a cocktail, I don't know. So I said, 'Oh Steve, you can't leave' -- I had a fork in my hand. 'You can't leave yet without a piece of wedding cake.' And I cut the wedding cake, one side, cut it the other, and then all the people in our group screamed, Marty! It was the wedding cake."
During the same candid chat, Martin Short also mentioned that he tried to hide the entire incident from Selena Gomez. He did not want her to know about it right away. He further stated that after cutting the cake accidentally, he tried to fix it with a fork. Later, the chefs were called to fix the cake as much as possible before being presented in front of Selena and Benny. In his words:
"I tried to fix it with a fork. This was bad. This was about an hour before it was to be presented. Then they (chefs) did surgery. It ended up being like a Hollywood wedding cake... it was beautiful, but now it had a little work done. I kept saying, 'Guys, we can't let Selena know."
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are one of the most loved couples in Hollywood. The two first made their relationship official in December 2023, after meeting professionally. For the unversed, Benny had produced several of Selena's songs. In December 2024, the couple announced their engagement through a beautiful post.
Later, in September 2025, Selena and Benny tied the knot in California. The wedding was attended by multiple celebrities like Taylor Swift, Martin Short, Steve Martin, Ed Sheeran and more. For the big day, Selena opted for a custom satin halter-neck wedding gown, while Benny chose a classic black tuxedo. Both the outfits were designed by Ralph Lauren.
