Bollywood veteran actress, Neena Gupta caused controversy at the wedding reception of Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda in Hyderabad. Netizens, beyond speaking about her glow, noted that she looked pregnant. Now, Neena Gupta has clarified whether she is expecting a baby at the age of 66. There were rumours doing the rounds that the actress was expecting another child.
Neena Gupta's pictures from Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda's wedding reception went viral on March 4, 2026. Netizens started gossiping that the actress looked pregnant, and now Neena has clarified that all these claims are completely false. Interestingly, Neena played a middle-aged pregnant woman in Badhaai Ho (2018). She becomes pregnant by accident in the movie. Netizens were smart enough to connect the dots and speculate that a baby bump was visible under the ivory-hued outfit, designed by her daughter, Masaba Gupta. Now, Neena is not pregnant , and in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, she joked and said:
"This is all I need, a real-life Badhaai Ho."
A netizen on X shared a video of Neena Gupta in an ivory-hued saree at Rashmika and Vijay Deverakonda's reception. The netizen in the caption wrote, "Is Neena Gupta pregnant"? A user commented, "The way she is resting her hands on her tummy makes it look like she might be pregnant. Badhai ho wala concept in reality. Samajh nahi aa raha kuch."
Another user wrote, "Badhai Ho” from reel life to real life. Seriuosly, vaisa hikuch lag raha hai. At this age? What the heck." Users also assumed that Neena may have undergone IVF as one wrote, "She is 66 years old, right..but anything is possible. IVF is possible." Neena Gupta further shared in the interview that her saree was made of a thick fabric, which made her look pregnant. In her words:
"No Badhai Ho is happening here. I’m not pregnant. The saree’s fabric was just thick, that’s all. It made me look a bit bulky at the reception. But honestly, I love that people are even speculating about my pregnancy at this age. It shows we’re changing as a society.”
Well, Neena Gupta dismissed all the pregnancy-related rumours in a very light-hearted manner. She said that she did not need a 'real life Badhaai ho' and explained that the misunderstanding happened due to the thick fabric in her saree. This was the only reason as to why she looked bulkier in the pictures and also the videos.
Neena Gupta is known for her bravery, as she raised her daughter, Masaba Gupta, single-handedly. For the unversed, Neena was in a relationship with cricketer Viv Richards, whom she had met at a party by the Maharani of Jaipur. They came into a relationship, and she became pregnant. Neena had earlier revealed that she had never decided to give birth to a child if she had not got married. Well, things were not planned that way. Neena was advised by many not to have the child out of marriage, but she continued with the pregnancy and gave birth to a daughter. The actress, in an interview with Humans Of Bombay, advised young girls to not have a child outside of marriage. In her words:
"Young girls ko main yeh kahungi, agar aap mere jaise bina shadi se bacha paida karna chaahte ho, bohot mushkil hai, mat karna. Don't do it because someone has done it."
