A while ago, the makers of the upcoming film, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do released the teaser online and it instantly grabbed attention for all the wrong reasons. For the unversed, the film starring Sara Ali Khan, Wamiqa Gabbi, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rakul Preet Singh is all set to hit the theatres on May 15, 2026. Soon after the teaser went viral, multiple users slammed the makers for glorifying infidelity. Amid that, an insider has come forward and denied all the claims.

Netizens slam the teaser of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do

For those who missed the teaser, it shows Ayushmann Khurrana’s character flirting  with Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh and Wamiqa Gabbi at the same time, despite being married. Even though the intention of the makers was to add humour, this sparked an intense conversation on social media, where netizens felt that the movie was trying to normalise infidelity.

Sharing their disappointment, one user commented, "Flip the script to patni ki fitrat and try normalize wives cheating and this type of comedy will get instant ban." Another user penned, "Not only is this normalising adultery. It is spreading negative gender stereotypes as well." A third user shared, "Bollywood needs to stop turning seriously problematic issues into “comedy.” Whether it’s cheating, alpha-beta male dynamics, or toxic relationships, everything is packaged as humorous or glamorous." A fourth user also commented, "There is an audience for example the lower middle class who gets easily brainwashed by movies."

The makers of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do break silence on the backlash

Hours after the teaser of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do grabbed attention for all the wrong reasons, an industry insider came forward and opened up about the same. According to a recent report by News18, the insider stated that the upcoming film uses situational humour to highlight the complex nature of modern relationships. The insider, further, made it clear that the film does not glorify infidelity. As per News18, the insider was quoted as saying:

"Pati Patni Aur Woh Do uses satire and situational humour to reflect the complexities of modern-day relationships. At its core, the story explores the consequences of choices, along with their emotional and situational impact. It’s a slice-of-life take on flawed human behaviour and does not, at any point, glorify infidelity."

Further, the insider mentioned that the movie is expected to be a good and light-hearted watch for the viewers as it blends emotions, humour and music. Further, addressing the backlash, the insider explained that the audience will understand the entire context only after they watch the movie. Ayushmann Khurrana opens up on doing clean films amid the backlash

Over the years, Ayushmann Khurrana has built an image for doing clean and thoughtful movies. Recently, the much celebrated actor opened up about his choice of films and explained that he wants people to enjoy his movies with their families, which is why he prefers doing clean ones. He stated:

"I have worked very hard to build this credibility with the content that I have tried to pick to entertain people. I like my films to be clean, keeping in mind that an entire family, from anywhere in India, can sit down together to watch it in theatres! Maybe that’s why they always show up for my family entertainers. For me, that’s a huge responsibility."
