After the tragic incident of the Brazilian women's death while bungee jumping, another similar incident took place with an Indian student.
Bungee jumping, which is often seen as a popular adventurous sport, is now hogging the limelight for all the wrong reasons. A few days ago, a 21-year-old Brazilian woman lost her life during bungee jumping. She was pushed off the bridge without a safety rope. Well now, another case has happened, but this time in India. Recently, a 21-year-old student from Dehradun died while bungee jumping, sparking major debates online.
Days after the Brazilian woman died while bungee jumping, an Indian student from Dehradun, who is identified as Lakshya Rastogi tragically passed away while doing the same adventure sport. Reportedly, Lakshya was with his family in Mulyagaon. They were returning after visiting Dhari Devi Temple, when they stopped for bungee jumping, which turned out to be tragic for them.
As per police officials, Lakshya completed the bungee jump and had returned to the ground without any health issues. However, within a few minutes, he complained of severe chest pain, abdominal pain and difficulty in breathing. His family took him back to the hotel, but his condition continued to worsen. On the same day, they took him to the Community Health Centre. By the time they reached, his pulse had stopped. The doctors tried to revive him, but he was declared dead.
While the exact reason of his unexpected death has not been revealed by the doctors, it is suspected that the symptoms suggest that the young student suffered a syncope attack, because of which he lost consciousness. Another reason behind his untimely death can be cardiac arrest. As per a recent report, Senior Superintendent of Police named Shweta Choubey said:
"Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team was immediately dispatched. The matter is being investigated."
Since the past few hours, multiple netizens have been debating about the two tragic bungee jumping accidents that happened in less than a week. Talking about the same, one user commented, "Probably he suffered a heart attack while jumping. Medical certification should be must for all such adventure activities." Another user wrote, "I don't understand why people risk their life doing all this so called adventure sports … specially when we know how ill maintained these sports center are." A third user penned, "First the Brazilian woman and now this young student, this is heartbreaking."
A few days ago, a 21-year-old woman named Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas tragically died while bungee jumping. Reportedly, she was pushed off a bridge without safety rope. Ever since the video clip of the same has been revealed, there have been multiple accusations around the same. A while ago, a video also suggested that one person had purposefully removed the GoPro camera, which was attached to the woman.
The accident instantly led to an official investigation. As of now, three arrests have been made; however, the exact truth has not been revealed. For the unversed, those three people have been identified as the bungee jumping instructors, and they are charged with homicide. After her death, an unknown man paid a heartfelt tribute to her. He wrote:
"I still can’t believe it, Dudinha. I think it’s a nightmare, and I’m going to wake up. You’re the most amazing person I’ve ever met. I love you, girl. I don’t know if I can handle all this. I know nothing will bring you back, but I pray to God that we’ll see each other again. I love you, Dudinha, I’ll never forget you."
