Harrison Ford met Mary Marquardt when he was in college. Their love blossomed during their teens and soon led to marriage. While details of their marriage are unknown, it's reported that she had moved to Los Angeles with Ford so he could try his luck as an actor. The couple tied the knot in 1964 and soon after welcomed two sons, Benjamin and Willard, born in 1966 and 1969, respectively.
The couple built a happy home and remained married for 15 years before divorcing in 1979. She worked as a chef and lived a relatively private life after their separation. According to reports, it was Ford's sudden rise to fame that strained their relationship, leading to emotional and physical distance between the couple, which eventually resulted in a divorce. There are also reports that he allegedly cheated on his wife with 19-year-old Star Wars co-star, Carrie Fisher.
Harrison Ford found love again with screenwriter, Melissa Mathison on the set of the 1976 film, Apocalypse Now. According to reports, Mathison was working as an assistant to Francis Ford Coppola at the time. The couple began dating in 1982 and were married by 1983. The couple went on to welcome two children: a son named Malcolm and a daughter named Georgia.
However, this time as well, his marital bliss was short-lived: after 17 years together, the couple parted ways in 2000. While the reason for their split was never made public, it's said that his socialising with a younger actress led to their divorce. Since the couple didn't have a prenup, Ford had to pay Mathison between USD 135 million and USD 180 million in settlement. She passed away at the age of 65 in 2015 from neuroendocrine cancer.
Harrison Ford was still in the midst of his drawn-out divorce proceedings when the then 60-year-old star met Calista Flockhart at the Golden Globe Awards after-party in 2002. According to reports, the actress spilt a drink on the star. However, in 2023, she revealed that it was Ford, not her, who spilt the wine. The couple got married in 2010 after a long period of dating and soon adopted a baby boy named Liam.
During a 2008 interview with Reader's Digest, Harrison Ford said he was grateful to Calista Flockhart for bringing a child "back into my home". He said that "it was a wonderful opportunity to be part of a child's growing up, which is always an endless springtime." He further talked about their family time in a conversation with PEOPLE and said:
"Calista loves to fly, and I'm thrilled because it's so important to me and it's the kind of thing that's so much more fun with somebody who really enjoys it. She likes seeing me happy. I think a lot of it has to do with [the fact] that she loves to see me doing something I love."
