Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleJessica Radloff published the book Young Sheldon: The (Juicier-Than-Meemaw’s-Brisket) Inside Story of the Hit Comedy on October 20, 2026, and it has received positive reviews. Jessica published the book as a follow-up to her 2022 bestseller, The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series.
The new book offers oral history and behind-the-scenes glimpses into the CBS series Young Sheldon. The series premiered in 2017 and ran for 7 seasons, ending in 2024. And in the recently released book, Emily Osment, who played the role of 'Amanda "Mandy" McAllister', revealed that she was uncomfortable with a massive age gap with her co-star, Montana Jordan, who played the role of 'Georgie Cooper'.
In one excerpt from the book, it was revealed that Emily Osment, who joined the cast in the series' fifth season, requested an intimacy coordinator, as she was not comfortable with the age gap with her co-star, who was 18 back then. Jordan and Emily didn't have any sex scenes in the series; however, given that she was 30 and he was 18 back then, Emily had some concerns.
Emily Osment revealed in the book that Jordan was just a 'baby with a mullet', and it made her uncomfortable. According to Emily, she asked the producer for an intimacy coordinator, and it actually made things easier in the future, as the on-screen relationship between her and Jordan also started to escalate. Emily could be quoted as saying:
"That made me uncomfortable. He was a baby! A baby with a mullet. So I spoke to [producer] Tim Marx, and obviously they were not able to get one that late in the day, but for the next few episodes they had one there, since the relationship between them escalates. It made everything easier having one there. I think it’s something that’s really important.”
In the same interview, Emily further revealed that she was not sure whether Montana Jordan would ever be able to ask for it, while adding that her co-star has been a 'sweet kid' who would eat his discomfort. Emily further expressed her happiness for the fact that the team was able to provide them with an intimacy coordinator, which made things super easy for them.
While Emily Osment asked for an intimacy coordinator, director Alex Reid admitted that they totally dropped the ball on the request, as the series didn't feature any sex scenes. Speaking about the same elsewhere in Jessica's book, Alex said that he has a photo of the actors, Emily and Jordan, sitting in a car, where both of them looked in other directions.
According to the director, Emily later told him that it was super uncomfortable for both of them, as back then, they didn't even know each other. The director explained that it wasn't mainly because of the intimacy coordinator; rather, they had to make out without even knowing each other, and that's where the embarrassment came from. According to Alex:
"I showed it to Emily and she said, ‘Yeah, that was so uncomfortable for both of us, because we didn’t know each other.' It wasn’t even about the lack of an intimacy coordinator. It’s just you’re having to make out with somebody you just kind of met. Obviously they worked that out, and they have a great chemistry now, but that was kind of embarrassing.”
However, Emily Osment and Montana Jordan worked things out, and their chemistry remained intact. Emily, even though she joined the series in the 5th season, was promoted to a regular till 2024 season. Emily Osment and Jordan now lead the Young Sheldon spin-off Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, which is currently in its third season.
