Doug Burgum married Kathryn Helgaas seven years ago in 2016. She got the title of the First Lady of North Dakota after her husband was sworn into office. Kathryn Helgaas was born in Jamestown, North Dakota and was the second youngest of the four children. She has a degree in retail business from Arizona State University and an MBA in human resources from the University of North Texas.
Apart from her political endeavours, she loves reading, fishing, horse-riding and snowboarding. Talking about her job, as per her official bio, her duties include supporting and developing initiatives to eliminate the shame and stigma of the chronic disease of addiction in North Dakota's communities.
Kathryn, who is 57 years old, is Doug's second wife. The couple do not have any children together. However, Doug Burgum was married to Karen Stoker from 1991 to 2003. In their 14 years of marital bliss, they welcomed three children, Jesse, Joe and Tom.
Doug Burgum hails from Arthur, North Dakota. He was born on August 1, 1956. Talking about his professional front, the North Dakota citizen is an entrepreneur and a serving member of the Republican Party. He had previously worked with Microsoft, and in 2016, he was appointed as the 33rd governor of North Dakota. In 2023, he also announced his candidacy for the 2025 United States presidential election. However, six months later, he withdrew his name from the race. In a press statement, he was quoted as saying:
"While this primary process has shaken my trust in many media organizations and political party institutions, it has only strengthened my trust in America. Our nation doesn’t need to be perfect to be exceptional."

Donald Trump revealed that he appointed him mainly because he found Burgum's wife, Kathryn, extremely attractive after seeing her in a video riding horses with her husband. He made the shocking comment in the Oval Office while he signed an executive order aimed at addressing d**g addiction.
Kathryn was also at the event, standing with her husband, Doug Burgum, as she spoke about her recovery from addiction and voiced support for the initiative. At the end of the event, Donald Trump recounted how he first saw Kathryn, riding a horse, and he had his eyes on her. He said:
