Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleA severe flash flood hit Brevard County, Florida, and reportedly dropped over 20 inches of rain in a single day, resulting in the ground and local drainage systems overflowing instantly. Emergency crews have worked constantly to rescue people as the historic rainfall and flooding covered roads and submerged the neighborhood. People are waiting to return home, and according to WESH 2, the situation is exhausting.
The historic 20 inches of rain has resulted in severe damage, including damaged homes, damaged cars, and deaths. Following the reports about the historic rainfall, it was reported that two people lost their lives due to it. One of the victims was a young dad of four who passed away after he was in an accident. The two people who lost their lives due to the Florida flood were 34-year-old Joshua Bennett and 78-year-old Archie Richards.
Joshua was a father of four, and following his passing, his wife mourned his death. In an interview with WESH 2, Joshua's widow, Stacy Petit Bennett, recalled the final moments of her husband. Joshua was out to have his coffee when his truck became submerged in the raging floodwater, resulting in his demise.
According to Stacy, Joshua FaceTimed her just moments before he passed away. The 34-year-old was crying, asking his wife what he should do as his vehicle was submerging in the water. Joshua told his wife that he was in the river and didn't know what to do.
Stacy Petit Bennett revealed that she urged her husband to break the car window and escape, however, the call dropped just seconds later. Stacy continued to try to get help for her husband, but it was too late. In the interview, the now-single mom of four remembered her husband as the center of their family, adding that he was an amazing husband and father. She said:
"He called me on FaceTime, and he was just crying like, 'I don't know what to do, I don't know what to do'. He said he's in the middle of a river, and his car was submerged with water all around. Joshua was an amazing husband and dad. He has a son and three daughters. He was super obsessed with them. He loved to do activities with them."
Joshua Bennett and Stacy Bennett met in college while studying bio pre-med, married in 2020, and had twin daughters, a daughter, and a son. Joshua was super obsessed with his kids, and he would take part in several activities with them. Stacy welcomed her twins early, at around 25 weeks, and, according to her, they weighed about one pound each. Stacy used to stay home because she had to care for her kids, including three with special needs.
According to Stacy Bennett, they are starting from scratch, as she doesn't have a support system. The mom of four is now without any main source of support, and to help them, Joshua's sister launched a GoFundMe page, which raised USD 65K.
According to Joshua's sister, the main priority for them is to keep the kids safe, have a stable home, and ensure their needs continue to be met 'during this incredibly difficult transition'. On the campaign page, Joshua's sister wrote that the kids "deserve security, comfort, and continued access to the care they need as their mother navigates this heartbreaking loss."
We wish Stacy and the kids strength during this tough time.
