The Telugu star, Uday Kiran, was set to marry Chiranjeevi's eldest daughter, Sushmita Konidela, but the engagement had been called off. Now, it has been almost two decades since the matter, but now it seems Uday's elder sister, Sridevi, has given a clarification related to why they broke up and what exactly happened?
Uday's elder sister, Sridevi's comments have now surfaced on the social media. Conversations about Uday and Sushmita's broken relationship seem to go on, and in an earlier interview, Sridevi cleared the air about what happened between Uday and Sushmita. For the unversed, back in the 2000s, Uday was one of the young and promising stars of Tollywood. The young actor had a lot of box office successes and was fondly known as a 'hat trick hero'. Slowly and steadily, Uday created a household name for himself and at the peak of his career, he had got engaged to Chiranjeevi's eldest daughter, Sushmita Konidela.
A report by the news 18 revealed that in an unexpected turn of events, Uday Kiran and Chiranjeevi's eldest daughter, Sushmita Konidela's wedding was called quits post their engagement ceremony. Since years, there was gossip doing rounds in the industry that the decision may have affected Uday's movie career and may have strained his relationship with Chiranjeevi. The claims remained a topic of debate for the longest time until Uday's sister, Sridevi, had to come forward and clear the air. Well, it was in 2003 when Uday was at the peak of his career and was known for his romantic movies such as- Chitram and Nuvvu Nenu. Back then, he got engaged toSushmita, who is the daughter of one of Telugu's most powerful stars, Chiranjeevi. The alliance between both of them drew significant attention in Tollywood.
Although Uday and Sushmita got engaged soon after, the wedding plans were called off. There was no official explanation given for the same, and Sridevi, in an interview as reported by News 18, cleared the air. She had revealed that there was no fallout between Chiranjeevi and her family. Sridevi revealed that it was Uday's decision to call off the wedding. Sridevi shared that Uday and Sushmita, after having a detailed conversation and spending time together, had mutually understood that they had compatibility issues. Hence, both had mutually decided to end the engagement.
Sridevi also mentioned that Uday and Sushmita had felt that their personalities were completely different and without any external source of pressure, they had mutually decided to call off the engagement. Sridevi was firm on the fact related to Chiranjeevi being offended as Uday had cancelled the wedding but said that he had continued to extend support to the family especially during that time. Sridevi did mention that when Uday was going through a tough time, Chiranjeevi stood for Uday like a guide and also a mentor.
He had boosted his confidence and guided him to move ahead in his life. Sridevi revealed that she considered Chiranjeevi as her godfather, and her brother as the megastar, which gave a lot of respect to her family. Sridevi had also clarified that Chiranjeevi was not responsible for the demise of Uday, as he had been someone who always wished well for her now late brother.
It was on January 5, 2014 when Uday Kiran died bu su*ci** at his residence in Srinagar Colony in Hyderabad. When the cops had investigated, they found that Uday was suffering from de*re**ion, financial stress and reportedly was having a lack of offers in the movie industry. Sridevi had earlier revealed that before Uday met Sushmita, he was nursing a heartbreak post he separated from a woman he had deeply loved and worshipped. Sridevi had clearly emphasised that the tragic loss of her brother, Uday, should never be linked with Chiranjeevi.
