Cardi B and Offset’s love story began in 2017 when the duo worked with each other on a single, Lick. Shortly after the release of the song, Cardi B and Offset started dating in the same year. While speaking on The Tonight Show in 2021, Offset recalled that he and Cardi went to the Super Bowl on their first date since he wanted to do something that was not normal and also aimed to have some fun.
Back in October 2017, Cardi B and Offset attended the Powerhouse concert of Power 99 in Philadelphia. The duo was enjoying the concert when Offset proposed to Cardi B by going down on his knee. Cardi later shared the news on Instagram, saying that she cannot wait to spend her entire life with Offset. Offset also got a tattoo of Cardi B on his neck in 2018. While Offset did not announce anything about it from his side, the news grabbed attention when The Shade Room posted a video featuring someone’s hand.
While appearing at the BET Awards in 2018, Offset addressed Cardi B as his wife, which led to speculations that the duo might have tied the knot. TMZ eventually acquired the marriage certificate, which revealed that the news was true and the pair had exchanged vows in Atlanta in 2017. Cardi B later said on X that everything happened suddenly, when they woke up on one particular day and decided to get married. Cardi claimed that she said “I do” without any dress or makeup.
Before the news of their marriage was revealed, Cardi B revealed during her performance on Saturday Night Live in 2018 that she was expecting a child. She later posed with Offset on the cover of Rolling Stone, where Offset was spotted kissing the baby bump of Cardi B. They even organized a baby shower, inviting their close friends and family members. In July 2018, Cardi announced on Instagram that she welcomed a daughter named Kulture Kiari Cephus.
Five months after they had a child, Cardi B announced her split from Offset in December 2018. She wrote at the time that things were not working between them for a long time, clarifying that no one was at fault for the separation. Cardi also said that she is always going to have a lot of love for Offset since he is the father of her child. The duo reportedly reconciled in January 2019, and Cardi B also shared some social media posts in February 2019, showing the gifts that she received from Offset on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.
Cardi B approached the Atlanta courthouse in September 2020 to get divorced from Offset after allegedly discovering that the rapper was not being loyal. However, Offset attended Cardi’s birthday party in October 2020, and the duo was reportedly seen kissing each other on the occasion. The divorce was eventually dismissed in November 2020 after Cardi B decided to reconcile for another time. Cardi and Offset also had a son named Wave Set Cephus in September 2021.
Offset wrote on his Instagram Story in June 2023 that Cardi B had cheated on him. Cardi B then shared a Twitter Space conversation, where she was heard singing a portion of Keyshia Cole’s single, I Should Have Cheated. However, the duo collaborated on another single, Jealousy, in July 2023, following which Offset claimed during a conversation with Angela Yee that Cardi B never cheated on him. Although Cardi B confirmed in December 2023 that she was single, she and Offset later appeared on a few other occasions. Cardi filed for divorce from Offset in July 2024, seeking primary custody of their kids. The divorce has not been finalized yet.
