Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleBipasha Basu has been the OG diva of the glamour world. The stunning Bong beauty recently left everyone in awe with her pictures on the cover of Elle India. While the actress looked ravishing, fashion designer, Masaba Gupta’s comment on her pictures raised many eyebrows. Masaba praised Bipasha’s beauty and muscular build, reigniting the distasteful comment actress Mrunal Thakur made about Bipasha in the past, calling her "manly."
In an old video from her early television days, Mrunal was seen chatting with her co-star, Arijit Taneja, about fitness. In the same clip, Mrunal advised her co-star to marry a woman with a strong, muscular build, after he acknowledged that women who stay fit and work out look attractive. Taking note of what her co-star said, Mrunal casually mentioned:
“Do you want to marry a girl who is manly with muscles? Go marry Bipasha. I am far better than Bipasha.”

As soon as the video went viral, social media users trolled Mrunal and called her out for body-shaming and characterizing a strong, muscular physique on a woman as "manly”. Many users slammed Mrunal for her choice of words, as one of the users wrote, “The audacity to say 'I'm far better than Bipasha' with this face? Girl, get out of delulu." Another user commented, "Ew, this creature thinks she’s better than Bipasha." Another user penned, "Bipasha is far better."
Bipasha Basu is not just a gorgeous-looking actress but is also a smart woman. When the controversy over Mrunal’s old comments about the actress’s physique came to light, Bipasha reacted with a sassy response. Bipasha shared a picture note, "Strong women lift each other up”, without mentioning Mrunal’s name anywhere, and penned:
“Get those muscles beautiful ladies, we should be strong. Muscles help you attain, good physical and mental health forever! Bust the age old thought process that women should not look strong or be physically strong."
After Bipasha’s cryptic note, it was obvious that she wasn’t very happy with Mrunal’s distasteful comment about her body. In response to her old video, Mrunal Thakur took to her Instagram handle to apologize for her choice of words. The actress revealed that she was just nineteen and admitted that the playful banter went way too far and she regrets it now. Mrunal added that she never intended to body-shame anyone, but it came across that way. In her note, Mrunal also mentioned how, with age and time, she understands beauty comes in every form, and she truly values it.
As Bipasha recently posed for Elle India's cover, ace fashion designer Masaba Gupta heaped praise on the actress and her timeless beauty. Masaba took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday and shared a magazine cover featuring Bipasha Basu. While praising the actress for her distinctive beauty and fitness, Masaba appeared to take a subtle swipe at the criticism Bipasha has faced over her muscular physique. Sharing the cover, Masaba wrote:
“I am very happy to see Bipasha on a cover. You see, she is the last of the OGs. There will not be another Bipasha because everything else is a cookie-cutter template today. Boring. Dull. Doesn’t inspire one bit of confidence. And Bipasha Basu, I love your athletic build. I love the muscle, and I want more thanks to the fitness standard you set. Too bad if someone doesn’t see it as feminine. This is so great. Welcome back. Breath of fresh air.”
