Bill Murray's first ex-wife was Margaret Kelly, also known as Mickey Kelly. The ex-pair, according to a report of Parade, had met on the sets of Stripes and had eloped in Las Vegas back in January 1981. The ex-couple then had a second wedding ceremony in front of their family members back in Chicago. They were blessed with two children before separating in 1996. The report also mentioned that the ex-pair had a spontaneous wedding ceremony at 4.30 a.m. in Las Vegas. Margaret Kelly was not sure whether she and Bill were about to get married, and she had thought they were driving through the valley of San Fernando to find a Mexican restaurant. Earlier, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Margaret had mentioned that she was going to pick up a fight with Bill's impromptu marriage plan, but then she thought to do the same.
Bill Murray's first ex-wife, Margaret Kelly, used to always support him in his on-screen work. A report by the Daily Mail mentioned that Margaret worked in the real estate and then had started off her home goods store. However, their relationship did not go well as the actor did not remain faithful. He had an affair with Jennifer, a costume designer whom he was to marry. Murray had not spoken much about why his marriage with Margaret but speaking on his divorce, in an interview with the publication, he said:
"Not to diminish a relationship with a woman … I can’t take on another relationship if I’m not taking care of the things I really need to take care of the most. It’s not a selfish thing. It’s sort of an obligation.”
It was in 1997 when Bill got married to his second wife, costume designer, Jennifer. The ex-pair had four sons and were married for more than 10 years before Jennifer back in May 2008 had filed for divorce and it was an ugly one. The names of their kids are- Caleb, Jackson, Cooper and Lincoln. Bill and Jennifer's marriage came crashing down when in the divorce papers the costume designer accused the actor of abandonment, domestic viole***. She alleged of being lucky that he did not ki** her.
For the unversed, Jennifer and Bill had met on 1993's Groundhog Day, where the actor had given his finest performances. His work in Firestarter and also The Last Of The Mohicans is well known. She alleged that the actor had physically assa**ted her during her marriage and accused him of hi**ing her back in November 2007. Jennifer accused Bill of infidelity and pressed charges of him being addicted to ca**abis, s** and also alco***. The lawyer of Bill, John McDougall, had not commented on the allegations back then but in a statement had announced:

Jennifer had also argued that Bill would travel overseas and have multiple affairs. She had also applied for a restraining order against the actor and alleged that she and her four kids had to forcibly leave their USD 2.5 million house located in Charleston, South Carolina, due to the behaviour of the actor. A report by The New York Post also claimed that once the actor got drunk, two of his children had run to their neighbour's home. Unexpectedly, Butler in 2021 had passed away.
