Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleBarry Keoghan is currently making headlines for his admission about getting cosmetic work done on his face. The Academy Award-nominated Irish actor had long faced criticism for his looks, which once made him decide not to step out of his house for a while. He admitted that undergoing the procedure boosted his confidence; however, the actor has faced flak for it from the fans of the iconic band The Beatles.
Barry is currently preparing for his upcoming The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, where he plays the drummer Ringo Starr amid which he got the cosmetic treatment done. It didn't sit right with the Beatles' fans, who slammed the actor on social media.
Barry Keoghan has finally put an end to months of social media commentary about his changed appearance. The 34-year-old actor admitted he had facial work done to achieve a more youthful look. The 34-year-old Saltburn star shared that he underwent two sessions of a non-invasive, high-tech XERF skin-tightening procedure. For the unversed, XERF is designed to 'lift and firm the face' without surgery or injections.
Barry wanted to look sharper for his upcoming big project, The Beatles' biopic, so he resorted to the skin treatment. But fans of the band didn't like his approach to looking more youthful, thinking it would undermine his portrayal of the legendary Sir Richard Starkey, widely known as Ringo Starr. Many online users slammed Barry, claiming his cosmetic enhancement is "an insult to ringo."
Others called for a boycott of the project altogether, saying, "Cancel the d--n movie." An X (formerly Twitter) user claimed that Barry Keoghan ruined his looks by getting work done on his face. "What a knob, stick with what you've got. And in any case, they've somehow made him even more unsightly that he was before," they stated. Another stated, "Yeah all failed treatments apparently." A third called him a "creep."
In an Instagram reel shared by celebrity skin specialist Nilam Holmes, Barry Keoghan is seen lying on a treatment bed in a clinic, wearing a white headband as the medical professional moves a handheld device across his cheeks, around his nose, and along his jawline. In the video, the former boyfriend of Sabrina Carpenter stated that he had previously heard about the cosmetic treatment and knew what he was getting into.
According to the Daily Mail, the cosmetic procedure Barry Keoghan underwent could cost up to 4,500 pound sterling (USD 6,003.61). The actor praised Nilam Holmes, saying she was "brilliant" at her job and that he had previously had skin treatment sessions with her. The actor added that he looked and felt better about himself after undergoing the non-surgical XERF treatments. In his words:
"I've been hearing a lot about [XERF], and Nilam is very excited about it. And she's brilliant at what she does. I really mean that. Every time I come in, it's very relaxing and therapeutic. Nilam looks after my skin. I feel better about myself. I look better. I think it's important to look after yourself inside and outside."
As for what XERF is, the company said it is a monopolar radiofrequency treatment that delivers thermal energy deep into the skin to tighten it from the inside out. The procedure, reportedly developed in South Korea, has zero downtime, and results can last up to a year. The treatment not only made Barry feel externally radiant and youthful, but also boosted his confidence in his looks.
