Veteran actress, Asha Parekh opened up about being in love with Nasir Hussain and how she never tried to break his home.
Famous Bollywood veteran, Asha Parekh, opened up about her much-discussed relationship with Nasir Hussain. Asha often said he was the only man she had ever fallen in love with. For those who don't know, Asha Parekh and Nasir Hussain had a long-standing association in the film. The filmmaker had launched her as a leading actress in the film, Dil Deke Dekho in 1959. After which, they had worked on several hit films.
In an interview with Subhash K Jha, Asha Parekh talked about her love for Nasir Hussain. She added that it is necessary to acknowledge her love for Nasir, as it is not respectful to hide it. Asha stated that he was the only man she ever loved in her life. She was quoted as saying:
"Yes, Nasir Saab was the only man I ever loved. It is not respectful to those whom we love if we don’t acknowledge their presence to the world."
While celebrities try to hide their past relationship or linkups, it is not the case with Asha Parekh. She takes accountability for her past memories. She stated that she doesn't want to comment on what others think about her emotions, but for her, it was important to acknowledge the feelings.
Asha Prekh went on to reveal that her bond was never kept a secret, and there was no bad breath with the filmmaker's family. Asha Parekh stated that there was nothing secret about their association and his wife also knew about her feelings. As per Asha, they shared a warm and cordial equation. She added that she always knew that marriage was never on the cards with him, but she was just happy to be a small part of his beautiful world. She said:
"Because I wasn’t! There was nothing secret about our association. Nasir Saab’s wife was in the know. We shared a very warm and cordial equation. I knew there was never going to be marriage or anything. I was just happy to be a small part of his world."
Asha Parekh further added that she never tried to break into his home, and there was no ill intention between her and Nasir's family. She added that when her biography was published, Nasir's daughter, Nusrat and her son, Imran Khan was present at the book launch, hence she lived a good life without hurting anyone. She said:
"I was never a homebreaker. There was never any ill will between me and Nasir Saab’s family. In fact, when my biography (by Khali Mohamed) was launched, I was so happy to see Nusrat (Hussain’s daughter) and Imran Khan (grandson) at my book launch. I feel I’ve lived my life decently and without hurting anyone."
Talking about Asha's marital status, she decided not to marry anyone. Once in an interview with the Verve Magazine, Asha Parekh revealed that her experiences and things convinced her to stay away from the institution of marriage. She further accepted that she held no regrets. The actress was asked to name the person who made her firm about her decision not to get married. In response, the actress shared that once she was in love with a professor from the United States of America. The two were about to get married.
However, they broke up after his confession. Recalling that tragic night, when she was with her then-boyfriend in a cafe, the actress stated that the professor was already dating another girl. The man confessed to double-dating and informed her about the same when she started expressing her wish to get married. The confession broke her heart because the actress was deeply in love with him.
