A while ago, Asha Bhosle's granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, took to her Instagram Stories and penned a heartwrenching note.
Asha Bhosle, the legendary singer, passed away on April 12, 2026. She took her last breath at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. The iconic singer was 92 when she left for her heavenly abode. Currently, the Bhosle family is navigating through the loss. On April 13, they hosted her last rites at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park. While Asha’s near and dear ones mourned her passing, it was her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, who looked devastated. A while ago, she expressed her grief over her grandmom’s passing.
A while ago, Zanai Bhosle took to her Instagram Stories and shared a picture from her grandmother’s funeral, Asha Bhosle. Along with it, Zanai penned a heartwrenching note. She mentioned that currently she is overwhelmed with emotions and will write something when she can. She thanked everyone who paid their last respects to Asha Bhosle and attended her last rites. Zanai added that her grandmom deserved every bit of respect and honour. Zanai stated that she realised her grandmom would always live in the hearts of her near and dear ones. She wrote:
"So overwhelmed with emotions, I'll write something when I can, but I have to say that there were so many people who have respected her and honoured her today, and beyond it all shown her so much love. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. She deserved every bit of it. I realise that she lives on in every one of us in our hearts forever, and she has seen it all from above."
On April 13, 2026, Asha Bhosle’s last rites were performed. Many celebrities, including Tabu, Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh and more, came to pay their last respects to the legendary singer. People from politics also paid their last respects to the iconic singer. Zanai looked totally devastated. She broke down in tears in front of her rakhi brother, Mohammed Siraj, while Tabu tried to console her. Zanai was seen wearing a white-hued anarkali. For those unaware, Zanai is the daughter of Anand Bhosle and Ahuja Bhosle.
In a recent interview with Filmygyan, Zanai got candid about her deep connection with her grandmom, Asha Bhosle. Zanai shared that sometimes she does get emotional when she looks at her grandmom. Zanai mentioned that although she knows life is short and not everybody stays with them at all points, she doesn’t want to lose her grandmom. Zanai highlighted that she doesn’t want to share her with everyone. She was quoted as saying:
"I love my grandmom. Mera unke saath itna deep connection hai ki main unko bas dekhti rehti hu aur kabhi kabhi ro leti hu. Life is short and not everybody is with us at all points. I don’t wanna share her with everyone. I don’t wanna give her to anyone. She is mine. And it is very personal for me. Aap mere saath hamesha ho aur aap kabhi mat jaana."
Asha Bhosle was one of the greatest singers of all time, and her death marked the end of an era of Indian music. According to multiple reports, Asha passed away after suffering cardiac arrest. She was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after she suffered cardiac and respiratory issues on April 11, 2026. However, her situation worsened on the morning of April 12, 2026. According to doctors, Asha suffered multi-organ failure shortly before her passing.
