Actor, Aditya Uppal opens up about how he had refused his role in Dhurandhar at first

While the main cast of Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2, including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and more, has received a lot of praise from viewers, the supporting cast's performances also did not go unnoticed. Among them is actor, Aditya Uppal, who played Lyari Task Force cop, 'Omar Haider' in the Aditya Dhar directorial. In fact, it was Aditya's end-credit scene in Dhurandhar 2 which made him go viral. According to Hindustan Times, it was in 2024 that Aditya received a call from Mukesh Chabbra's office. When they asked him if he would like to do "something interesting," Aditya's immediate response was "no, not now!" as he was busy with his ad agency business at the time. Apparently, since he had taken a break from acting for 8-9 years, it was a common occurrence for him to hear “no” or be offered very junior roles. This is why, according to Aditya, “there is a kind of disbelief which seeps in.” Thankfully, when the casting associate told him to give the role a go, he decided to give a very casual audition.

Following this, Aditya went on to give a few more auditions, and after a look test, he was finally selected. He said, “I am grateful that I was asked to reconsider after a no!” For those unaware, Aditya was previously seen in minor roles in movies like Break Ke Baad (2010) and Ormeta (2017). Furthermore, another shocking revelation he made is that when Dhurandhar was released and his character was seen on screen for the first time, his family had mixed feelings. He said:

"Of course, they were happy to see me on the big screen as part of a mega film, but expected that I would get more scenes or dialogues. For three months, I kept silent as I knew what’s in store. They came with zero expectations in part two, but when the Tamma Tamma song scene started, and my role took off, all were elated.”

Aditya recalled his family exiting the theatre as the end credits rolled. But to their surprise, that's when Aditya's final shot came up on the screen. He remembered that his cousin shouted, “Tu to phir aa gaya!” Hence, to him and his family, Dhurandhar 2 ending on his scene was a bonus. And as you might already be aware, the scene then went viral, and almost everyone has seen it to this day.

Aditya Uppal claims he got hate messages for torturing ‘Hamza’

Although Aditya's end-credit scene in Dhurandhar 2 has been receiving a lot of praise, with fans showering him with love, apparently, he has been getting hate as well. He said that before his scene went viral, he had a meagre 1.2k followers on Instagram. However, after he started receiving recognition for his performance in the Aditya Dhar directorial, his follower count on the social media platform shot up to 33k. That is when he started getting more weird messages. He said:

“With love, I am getting weird messages as well, like ‘How can I torture Yalina (Sara Arjun)?’, ‘Hamza could have killed more if I had not done investigation’ or ‘How can I hit Hamza?’. Best was when I got emotional when an offer rose on my boss Aslam’s coffin, and the public was clapping on it. Aditya (Dhar, director) brought humour so well.”
