Taking to Reddit, a user recently re-shared an old interview of Deepika Padukone with an international leading daily. The clip started by the host asking the actress about her views on many celebrities having found partners in cross-cultural marriages and at the same time maintaining their distinct careers. To this, Deepika responded how important it is for a person to embrace one’s own culture and place of origin and making it visible globally.
Moreover, without taking any names, she appeared to be shading how Indian actresses have ventured into cross-cultural unions and added how she would never want to set foot in a culture which she isn’t very comfortable about. Moving further, Deepika also remarked about how she, as a person, was very sure about getting married to someone from India, rather than moving away from where she belongs.
Well, the old video of Deepika Padukone shared with the title, ‘Deepika attacking Priyanka's marriage for no apparent reason’ grabbed the attention of several netizens in no time. The fact that the Padmaavat actress threw shade at one of her contemporaries reason didn’t sit well with the netizens, and they started to express their views on the same. Moreover, some others also took a jibe at Deepika’s speaking and styling sense, and slammed her for the same. While one internet user penned, “People mistake her long pauses in between words for some profound wisdom being bestowed. She isn't saying much in all that time she took to speak”, another netizen commented, “Her insecurity is so visible.”

Earlier, while speaking to the Hindustan Times, Deepika Padukone talked about the kind of equation she shares with her contemporary actress, Priyanka Chopra. Reacting to constant speculations of sharing rivalry with her, Deepika remarked how it feels weird for her to listen to all of it, since she considers the two of them were never professional rivals. Talking more on the same, she said:
“I like the fact that you use the word ‘friend’, because that’s what she is to me. So, every time I read anything that doesn’t say that (we are friends), it really surprises me. I have always said that she is someone I’ve known for many years. I feel extremely awkward and weird when such comparisons are made, because I don’t even believe that we are professional rivals. We never were. So, why should we be now? She is doing amazing work in her own space. And what her work will require from her in terms of time and other commitments are different from what I am working towards or what I am doing."
