Amar Singh Chamika's biopic starring Diljit Dosanjh as 'Chamkila' and Parineeti Chopra as 'Amarjot' is receiving much love. The world is finally getting to know the real side of the controversial singer, Chamkila, who gained a lot of fame within a short span. While he continued receiving death threats, Chamkila never feared. In fact, on the day of his assassination, Chamika had foreseen his death and was ready to get a gunshot.
Not many people know that Amar Singh Chamika was married twice. Before falling in love with Amarjot Kaur, he married Gurmail Kaur. The famous singer, who was shot dead at the age of 27, had two daughters, Amandeep Kaur and Kamaldeep Kaur, with his first wife. It is also reported that Chamkila married his second wife, Amarjot, while he was still in a relationship with Gurmail Kaur. Chamkila had a son, Jaiman Chamkila, from his second wife.

Chamkila and Gurmail's elder daughter, Amandeep Kaur was just too young when her father died in the horrific gunshots. After Chamkila's death, life became tough as she had to take care of her mother, too, as Gurmail started falling sick after her husband's death. Amandeep Kaur's favourite song of her father was Pehle Lalkaare Naal.
On the other hand, Kamaldeep Kaur lives in Canada. The gorgeousness followed her father, Chamkila's footsteps and made a name in the Punjabi industry with her debut song, Lalkara. She is known by her stage name Kamal Chamkila.
Singing is deeply rooted in the hearts of Chamkila's children. While the singer is no longer with us, his children are doing their best to keep up with his legacy. Chamkila and his second wife, Amarjot's son, Jaiman Chamkila is also a singer and following his father and sister's footsteps. However, he has no memory of his parents, Chamkila and Amarjot as his maternal grandparents have brought him up.
It is also reported that Chamkila and Amarjot had a 15-day-old child, whose identity remains undisclosed as the baby passed away after the parents' tragic demise.
In an old interview with Noble TV Canada, Amar Singh Chamika's dholak player, Lal Chand, recalled the horrific day of his assassination. He was present with the singer, Amar Singh Chamika, and his wife, Amarjot, as they were having a show together. Lal Chand revealed they had met in the singer's office around lunchtime. He added that this was the same day when Chamika asked them not to worry about death threats and knew if someone wanted to kill him, they would do it. He said:
"We all got to the office around lunchtime. Chamkila arrived, and we hung out for about 10 minutes before heading to the show. Right before we left, Chamkila told everyone not to worry (about the death threats). He said, ‘I sing the songs, not you. Jis goli pe mera naam likheya hoga, o mere te vajni hi vajni aa (The bullet that has my name written on it will strike only me)."
Chamkila and his wife, Amarjot's assassination left millions heartbroken and became another bold in the history of Punjab.
