Amar Singh Chamkila has become the talk of the town ever since Imtiaz Ali's film based on the former's life was released on Netflix. In the film, Diljit Dosanjh portrayed the role of 'Amar Singh Chamkila' while Parineeti Chopra played his wife, Amarjot. For the unversed, Amar Singh Chamika was married to Gurmail Kaur before falling in love with Amarjot. While the famous singer had two daughters, Amandeep Kaur and Kamaldeep Kaur, with his first wife, he and Amarjot were blessed with a son, Jaiman Chamkila.
In an interview with Punjabi content platform, Cine Punjabi in 2023, Jaiman Chamkila talked about his relationship with his stepmother and stepsisters. He revealed that he was still in touch with his father’s first wife and shared tidbits about their personal lives. Jaiman was heard saying:
“I am in touch with Chamkila’s first family. I have two sisters from his first wife, Amandeep and Kamaldeep. The older one is married and has two kids, and Kamal is getting married this year (2023).”

While Amar Singh Chamkila reportedly cheated on his first wife, Gurmail with Amarjot, the latter had no hard feelings for him. After the popular singer passed away at the age of 27, Gurmail treated the former's son, Jaiman like her own children. Talking about his bond with his stepmother, Gurmail, Jaiman said:
“When I go meet her, she greets me well but that’s it. From the beginning, it’s been this way. It is not her fault nor our (the children) fault.”
Further in the same interview, Jaiman was asked if he and his stepmother and stepsisters ever share their sorrow about losing Chamkila. To this, Jaiman said in Punjabi that they miss Chamkila every day and believe that their state would have been entirely different had the latter been around them. Praising his father's hard work, Jaiman said:
“Sometimes we speak and she would say that if your father was around, we wouldn’t be in such state. He worked really hard, people’s evil eyes impacted him, he had too many enemies. I have my sisters as well, we try to share our pain as much as we can.”

For the uninitiated, Jaiman Chamkila followed in the footsteps of his father, Amar Singh Chamkila, and became a singer. His stepsisters are also singers. After the tragic demise of his parents, Jaiman was brought up by his maternal grandparents. On Chamkila’s death anniversary, Jaiman and his stepsisters organise a mela in his honour and invite fans and fellow artists to join them every year.
