‘Baadshah of Bollywood’, aka Shah Rukh Khan is now a globally renowned celebrity. The actor ventured into the Indian entertainment industry almost four decades ago, and he is now one of the most successful film stars across the world. The magnitude of SRK’s stardom could be measured by the fact that all his 2023 releases, Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, earned in crores at the box office. While King Khan rules the hearts of millions worldwide, his heart is ruled by one name, Gauri Khan. The couple, who has been married for 32 years now, is considered one of the ‘IT’ couples in Tinseltown, and they have three children together, Aryan, Suhana and AbRam. Recently, renowned film producer, Vivek Vaswani shared a fond detail about SRK and Gauri’s wedding ceremony.
Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Chibber (now Gauri Khan) got married in October 1991. In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, the Bollywood producer, Vivek Vaswani shared some fond anecdotes from the wedding of the two. For those who don’t know, the producer played a huge and impactful role in shaping SRK’s career during his initial days in the industry.

During the conversation, the host asked Vivek about his relations with Gauri Khan. He said that even though they have not interacted much, their bond is cordial with one another. Vivek also revealed that just after SRK and Gauri’s wedding, they had to shoot the title song of their film, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, hence, right after their special day, they left for Darjeeling. Vivek further shared that the actor was still residing with him at his parents’ house when he got married, and Vivek gifted them a 5-day stay at a hotel in Mumbai, for which he had to borrow money from his father as well. Vivek said:
“After the wedding, we took Gauri to Darjeeling because we had to shoot the title song of Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. When they returned to Bombay, of course, they couldn’t stay at my house so as a gift, I gave them five days at Sun n Sand, then they moved to Aziz’s house.”
The host inquired if it was true that SRK and Gauri got married in three different ways. Vivek then nodded with a yes, and shared minute details about the same. The two lovebirds had a registry marriage, and then a Hindu and a Muslim wedding ceremony. The producer said that all three marriages took place on the same day. According to previous reports, SRK and Gauri first registered marriage and then had a nikah ceremony, to pay homage to SRK’s roots. And then finally, the two opted for a Punjabi Hindu wedding, to celebrate their coming together.

In the same conversation, Vivek Vaswani further disclosed the arrangements at their wedding and highlighted the overall joyful moment during the festivities. Vivek also recalled the delicious dishes that were served at SRK and Gauri’s wedding in 1991. He shared that Shah Rukh’s childhood friends and Gauri’s brother were in high spirits during the entirety of the festivities.
