From starting his career as an assistant director to delivering blockbusters and unforgettable roles on-screen, Vicky has come a long way. The actor certainly lives a king-size life now, yet he makes sure to swoon the hearts of his fans with his down-to-earth nature. Recently, Vicky shared how his parents have always taught him and his brother, Sunny Kaushal some important life lessons, which help the actor stay grounded. He also shared how his mom once trolled him for gaining some extra pounds.
In an interview with Film Companion, Vicky Kaushal shared how his mom, Veena Kaushal, and his dad, Sham Kaushal taught him and his brother the difference between necessity and luxury. For the unversed, Vicky's papa, Sham, is a veteran action director, and his mom, Veena, is a housemaker. However, Vicky revealed that he was taught that necessity would be provided, but one has to earn it for luxury. The actor also mentioned that although they had a second car, he was not allowed to drive it to his college or use it for going to auditions. Vicky mentioned that he used to take an auto and bus to do the same. Vicky can be quoted as saying:
"My parents always made sure that both Sunny and me knew the difference between necessity and luxury. They always kept saying that necessity is something that will be provided to you, luxury is something you’ll have to earn on your own. That demarcation was always there. When we were going to college, when I was an AD whatever, we had a second car at home but I was never allowed to drive it. Unless I have to take mom to drop her for yoga. But if I have to go for my job, for my work, even if I have to go to Anurag sir’s office or auditions wagerah, I had to take a bus or an auto. I can’t solo-drive a car. You had to earn your car to do that."

Further in the interview, Vicky Kaushal mentioned how he was trolled by his mom, Veena Kaushal as he once gained some extra pounds. Talking about the same, the actor mentioned that once his name came under 'Most Desirable' man. The actor mentioned that during that time he had gained some weight. Vicky shared that his shirt was open, and his mom came, pointed it out and said, 'Aa dekh lo, ye hai most desirable.' Elaborating more on the same, Vicky revealed:
"Mujhe yaad hai ek baar in 2018 or ‘19, one of the leading publications wrote a list of ‘Most Desirable’ and mera naam aa gaya tha usmei. I had come back from a trip. Doston ke sath khoob khaya, masti ki ye wo toh. And I came back, I’m just lying down, my shirt is open and my mom is like, ‘Aa dekh lo, ye hai most desirable.' Trolling jab ghar pe hoti hai na aap shant rehte ho. Internet can’t shape me."

Earlier, during a press conference for his film, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Vicky Kaushal walked down the memory lane and recalled the time when he went out for brunch with his family at a five-star hotel for the first time. The actor also mentioned that his mom, Veena was utterly shocked by the high price of the food there. Vicky shared that his mom thought the restaurant was charging that much because of the soothing ambience. Sharing that he would never forget such an incident, Vicky stated:
"(She saw the rates and said) ‘Daal itne ki hai? Sabzi itne ki hai?’ And the restaurant was pool side so my mom thought just because of the pool they were charging so much. The cost of food wasn’t as much as they were charging for the ambience."
