Just a few days before the wedding, the house of the would-be-bride and groom will be full of relatives and cousins. And, among those will be some whom they would be meeting for the first time.
Just one appreciation about their saree, lehenga or dress, and ladies will give every detail about it. Right from the cost, to marketplace, shop, designer, fabric and what not, one will know every detail about the dress in minutes. This discussion can go on even for hours.
And not only dress, they will even give details about their dazzling jewellery. Be it cost, weight, shop, design or any other detail, just ask them and one will have an in-depth knowledge about their jewellery.
Meanwhile, the gents of the family will be seen either discussing politics, conditions of the nation, or giving directions to tent wala, phool wala, or catering wala.
And just when things seems to be going on fine, something or the other would go wrong like someone’s purse would be missing from the house, or the pooja thali would have been misplaced, or some luggage would be lost. There definitely will be one crazy situation which will keep everyone on their feet.
And yes, how can one forget about marriage related tips and suggestions from the elders, cousins and other relatives of the bride and the groom. Everyone will give their valuable advice about marriage. Elders will say, “theek se rehna sasural mein” (be good at your in-laws place) or “apni patni ko khush rakhna hamesha” (always keep your wife happy).

Although, they will be happy for you, they will still leave no stone unturned to make you realise what all you will be missing after marriage.
And when the big day arrives, everyone will put up their best attires and jewellery. In fact, the wedding day looks nothing less than a fashion parade. Everyone will take hours to get ready. Especially the ladies who will keep saying, “ha ho gaya, bas ek min aur” (Yes, I am almost ready, just give me one more minute).

The best part about the Indian marriages is the baraat. The groom’s friends and cousins will first hog the limelight, then uncles will then join them on the dhol beats. And lastly, aunties who are just smiling and laughing watching everyone dance, will then be pulled to the centre to shake their legs. And after a few minutes of hesitation, everyone, even the non-dancers, will show their killer moves, especially the naagin dance.
