Sangeet ceremony is the most looked forward event because it is as extravagant an affair as the wedding itself! Right from selecting the perfect songs, to choreographers to long hours of dance rehearsals and compering, a lot goes into making it absolutely unforgettable! Now, while some guests actively participate in the revelry, some prefer being spectators. And so, it becomes important that you keep them not just involved, but entertained.
So, we present some exciting activities that will up the fun quotient on your sangeet. How you add them to the sequence of the night is totally up to you!
If they can sing in the bathroom, they can sing on stage for an audience! Get everyone to make the most of the opportunity to feel like a celebrity! The shy relatives can be asked to sing as backup vocals or chorus, and contribute in keeping the craziness quotient at an all-time high! You can surely bet that they will not regret waking up with a sore throat the next day! If they do, just give them a hug and say ‘abhi toh party shuru hui hai’!
Face it, people! We have all grown up watching Filmfare award nights, IIFA, Zee Cine Awards and Oscars and Grammys, haven’t we? Now, you too can turn your sangeet night into an award night. Arrange for some trophies and decide some incredibly fun categories. Do not just give away the award… instead nominate a few people in each category to build suspense as to who actually is going to win it!
Oh la la! This is going to get everyone in a competitive mode for sure! Get the bride and the groom’s family to take up their respective positions, and before you start off with the game, first announce the award! Encourage bystanders to hoot and motivate their side to walk towards victory.

A couple of days ahead of the sangeet ceremony, ask family members to nominate people to form teams. Pair them up with their real life partners or let them choose on their own, especially the young ones. Once it starts getting hot in there, you can start playing softer numbers or evergreen classics if the elders are still in the race! Believe us when we say this- everyone is going to have a gala time.

And, if you are thinking about what to do with those who are defaulters; we would say you penalise them and ask them to showcase their talent, whether it is dance, naach gaana or mimicry!
Like antakshari, musical chair too will be a hit among every family member. To add an element of twist, give Bollywood numbers a miss. Instead, get a few elderly members of the family to sing some folk songs to add to the uniqueness of the night. For this you will have to arrange dholak, and other musical instruments to get the authentic flavour of your culture!
Ask everyone to dump their phones and stop taking selfies! Instead, tell them to head straight to the photo booth where they can make the most of props, and get crazy photographs clicked! If the sangeet is being jointly held, take the bride and the groom along and let the madness take over. These picture-perfect memories are something they will cherish for life!
Forget Indo-Pak rivalry on the pitch! Gather the family a week before the sangeet and get them to play against each other! Ladke wale and ladki wale are going to give their best shot, after all game jeetna hai or dil bhi!
