Ages back, the actor had madly fallen in love with a girl named Alyona Kapoor, who later became his wife. Just like most of the Bollywood movies, Sanjeev Kapoor and Alyona met on a train. The duo did not know each other personally. It was Alyona’s elder sister, Vandana who had acted as a mediator between Sanjeev and Alyona's first meeting. Vandana was Sanjeev’s colleague, and both of them worked at the ITDC Hotel in Delhi.
Once they all had travelled together in a train to Banaras. During their train journey, Alyona had felt the chills of the cold weather. On seeing this, Sanjeev Kapoor had held her hand to keep Alyona warm. The beautiful time they had spent on the train journey had sparked love between the two. This is how their love story began.
On Sanjeev Kapoor’s youtube channel, the couple had revealed some special things they had done for each other in the past when they were just dating. Sanjeev had shared that when he was working in New Zealand and had come to India for a few days, Alyona had decided to surprise him in Singapore and had booked a seat next to Sanjeev’s seat. What was special is that Alyona had never boarded a flight before that trip. She had especially travelled to meet Sanjeev halfway.
The lovebirds also wrote letters to each other while Sanjeev was working in New Zealand. The couple had shared that they would mark the date on the calendar when they did not meet. For them, those dates did not exist. Alyona had also revealed that Sanjeev would often call her from there and would spend half of his salary on his phone bills since an international call was costly at that time.

After dating for a few years, the couple had decided to take their relationship to the next level with marriage. They had tied the marital knot in October 1992. Sanjeev Kapoor and Alyona have been together for almost 25 years, and they are very much fond of each other’s company. The couple considers themselves very fortunate to have met each other.
The couple is blessed with two beautiful angels. Sanjeev Kapoor is a proud father of two daughters, the elder one whom they have named Rachita Kapoor and the younger one, Kriti Kapoor. Their daughters have flooded their parents’ world with happiness and love. Sanjeev believes that when his daughter Rachita was born on August 8, 1994, it was a very special day for him. In a video on Sanjeev Kapoor’s youtube channel, the couple had disclosed how they have maintained their love for each other for so many years. Alyona had shared that her husband, Sanjeev is very romantic and loves her a lot. On her 50th birthday, Sanjeev had blindfolded her and then had surprised her with a brand new car as a present. She had said:
"There are so many romantics things, he has done for me. On my 50th birthday, we were having this party, then he blind folded me and took me down and in the surprise he had got a car for me. I mean life is being just great."
In the video, she had expressed that she feels lucky to be Sanjeev Kapoor’s wife. On the other hand, Sanjeev had shared that he can not stay a day away from his wife and just loves having her around him. The couple had stated that food has always played an essential part in their relationship. Both of them are big food lovers and often go out on food dates. Moreover, they both always sit next to each other while eating and eat from the same plate. The love birds had shared:
