The English Bride Turns Mom's '80s Wedding Outfit Into A Lacy Pant-Suit For Her Pre-Wedding Ceremony

Brides around the world never miss a chance to flaunt their unique features. Be it any wedding, the bride's looks are always one of their own kind. This time, we stumbled upon an English bride who once again set some trends by redesigning her mom's '80s wedding dress into a new outfit for one of her pre-wedding parties. For the unversed, the bride, Devon is a dietitian and personal trainer by profession. She met her now-husband, Dylan Lambur at her boss' birthday party in February 2018, and their wedding took place in 2023 in St. Louis, Missouri. At her wedding, she made exceptional choices and restyled her mom's ensemble, which was worth drooling over.

A bride redesigned her mom's '80s wedding dress into a new outfit for one of her pre-wedding parties

The bride redesigned her mom's '80s wedding dress for a cool outfit at one of her pre-wedding parties. The original dress was worn by Devon's mom, Beth Murray on August 11, 1984. It featured a long gown with lacy detailing at the neck area and full sleeves. The bride's mother had teamed her look with a tulle veil, and she looked the prettiest on her wedding day. When Devon received her marriage proposal from Dylan in North Carolina, her mother gave her wedding dress to her doting daughter. The bride also restyled her mother's wedding dress into a top and pants for her wedding welcome dinner.

The bride explained how she incorporated her thoughts on redesigning the ensemble

The bride, Devon never planned to wear the 40-year-old dress to walk down the aisle. Thus, when she received the memorable gift, she came up with the idea to turn the dress into a pantsuit for her welcome party. In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Devon explained the entire process of restyling her mother's precious ensemble into a brand new one. Since the beginning, she wanted to make the bottoms into palazzo pants to fit her welcome party's vibe and avoid wearing multiple dresses at her pre-wedding festivities and the main event.

Afterwards, the bride consulted with a seamstress at Cozynest Custom Apparel & Alterations in St. Louis, Elisa, and it took eight months to create the dress. Devon also explained that initially, she was nervous to tell her mother she intended to cut up the gown. But when she talked about her wish to do so, Devon's mother mentioned that she was cool with the idea. Devon also spent around 30 hours on trips to the alterations specialist. Further, explaining how long the dress took to create, because Elisa had only one chance to cut the dress, the bride told Business Insider:

"She had to mock up pants, then she did a second mock-up. Only once the design and fit were correct on the mock-up pants could Elisa judge how to cut the dress to maximize the area of material to work with. I decided to include my mother in the process, rather than making it a surprise because it was her dress, too. I would FaceTime her at almost every single one of the fittings. That was a special experience for us."

The bride's wedding ensemble

The redesigned dress included modification of the bodice into a top and the design and fabrication of palazzo pants from the limited fabric of the skirt into lace-embroidered pants. Besides Devon's meaningful welcome party ensemble, she also donned another look at her wedding. For the ceremony and cocktail party, the bride stunned in a Madeline Gardner dress with detachable sleeves and a long trail. The entire ensemble featured minute lacy detailings, and she looked stunning in it. She paired it with minimal stud earrings and subtle makeup.
