Sushmita Sen had made the entire country proud when she had won the coveted title of Miss Universe in 1994 as she was the first one to bring such glory to her country. At the age of 24, she had proved that marital status has nothing to do with motherhood when she had adopted a little angel and had named her Renne Sen. Later she had adopted another angel, whom she called Alisah. Sushmita has proved that motherhood comes naturally to a woman as she flaunts her pride, Renee and Alisah.

Last year on Alisah’s 10th birthday, Sushmita had taken to her IG handle and had penned a beautiful wish for her. The ecstatic mommy had posted a picture in which Alisah could be seen sitting all-smiling in a pool of colourful balls had written, “We enter double digits!!!! Sushmita has always encouraged millions with her inspiring words. Sometime back, Sushmita had attended an event at Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Hyderabad where she had spoken about how adopting her two daughters, Renee and Alisah, was not an act of charity but a way to protect herself. Speaking about motherhood, the 43-year-old diva had shared that she might not be the biological mother of her daughters but she has given birth to them from the heart.
In a chat with India Today, Sushmita had shared why she dropped out of films after adopting Alisah. The former Miss Universe had clarified that she couldn’t be there for her elder daughter, Renee, but wanted to be with Alisah. She had also shared that her thought of looking towards motherhood had changed when she had adopted Alisah. In the actress’ own words, "I know that people say that your best years are your youthful years where you can do films and you look younger etc. I asked myself, 'If I don't do films right now and I focus on this, will I regret it? And if I choose to not be with Alisah and go do films, which one would I regret more?' It was a no-brainer for me. It's not just seeing their first step or first word, that I missed out for Renee. It's their personality development, to witness who they are becoming. I did not sponsor a child. I became a mother.
