Sara Ali Khan rose to fame with her debut film, Kedarnath. Her performance opposite Sushant Singh Rajput was loved by millions, and she instantly became everyone's favourite actress. Sara was not only loved for her acting prowess but also for speaking her heart out during interviews. She also openly talked about being an overweight child, and how she worked hard to shed the extra kilos to become an actress. Last year, she was back in the news for gaining weight. Now, the actress revealed how her mother, Amrita Singh gave her a reality check.
Recently, in an interview with Film Companion, Sara was asked what keeps her grounded in life. Sara instantly narrated an incident and how her mother, Amrita Singh, gave her a reality check. The actress revealed that last year when she came back from Europe, she had gained weight. Her mother was shocked and without mincing any words, she bluntly asked her why she gained weight while media is writing good things about her. Recalling the incident, Sara said:
"Yes, I came back from Europe last year overweight, and she was like, ‘What are you doing? What is going on? They write good things about you, Tere vaste falak se main chaand launga but you are looking like the sky yourself! Where is the chaand?'"

While Sara is famous for her unique personality and gorgeous looks, she wasn’t the fit and fabulous type from the beginning. The actress had weight issues which never really affected her confidence but became the biggest hurdle – to achieving her only dream of becoming an actor. In an interview with SpotboyE.com, Sara revealed her transformation story from a flabby 96 kg girl to a hot fashionista setting trends. The actress said:
"I was 96 kg at the time when I told my mother, sitting on the bed crying and saying, ‘Mom, all I want to do is become an actor.’ Then, she said that you need to lose weight. And, it took me about a year-and-half to lose that weight. So, I completed the remaining two years of my graduation in a year so that I can return and start working early."
Talking about her weight loss journey, Sara Ali Khan, during the same interview, revealed that she gained a lot of weight in America while studying. However, she made a choice and decided to live a healthy lifestyle. She stopped eating pizzas and chocolate and focused on losing all the weight by following a healthy workout routine and living a disciplined life.
Sara also shared that during her weight loss journey, she never shared any of her photos with her mother, Amrita. She even refrained from face-timing her mother. Sara stated that Amrita wasn't able to recognise her as she had lost 30 kgs and it was her suitcase that revealed her identity. She was quoted as saying:
"I didn't. September was the start of the semester and December was the end. In those 4 months, I even refrained from face-timing her. And, she recognised me at the airport only because of my suitcases; I was looking completely different. Obviously, 30 kg down, you ARE going to look different."
